iPhone 6s 2015 Rumors & Specs: September Release Date, iOS 9, Force Touch, Rose Gold Color
Here is the most reliable information that we have so far about the next iPhone, which is from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has the best track record in the industry when it comes to Apple leaks, and was previously quoted by Forbes.
Screen:
Apple is reportedly going to stay with the same screen sizes as the iPhone 6, which means there will be the smaller 4.7-inch screen and the larger 5.5-inch screen but there will not be a return to the 4-inch size, which was used on previous models. It looks like larger iPhones are here to stay, at least for the time being.
Colors:
So far Apple has three colors, the gold, space grey and silver editions. The next iPhone to be released supposedly will feature a fourth casing color, rose gold, matching the rose gold color already found on the Apple Watch.
Camera:
The camera will reportedly receive a pixel upgrade to 12 or 13 MP.
Microphone:
A microphone is reportedly being added to the speaker area to increase the quality of voice calls.
Processor:
The A9 processor is reportedly being upgraded from 1GB to 2GB.
Casing:
Apple is reportedly planning to make its new iPhones out of a harder aluminum that is alloyed with Zinc, in order to avoid another round of the Bendgate scandal that happened with the first iPhone 6.
Software:
The new iPhone will come with and run on iOS 9.
Force Touch:
This new touch sensing technology, which is already present in the Apple Watch and the new 12-inch Retina Macbook released this year (Macworld review), is reportedly coming to the next iPhone, enabling the device to differentiate between taps and presses as well as measure how much pressure you apply with your fingers, all designed to increase the number of possible gesture controls.
Release Date:
Pre-orders are expected to begin on September 18th and the handset will reportedly officially go on sale on September 25th, reports Forbes, citing information from a leaked internal email from UK carrier Vodafone.
Once the new iPhone does come out, all that will be left is to decide whether to upgrade or wait it out for the next iPhone.
