LG Optimus G Android 4.4 KitKat Update Not Rolling Out, LG Confirms After Facebook Post Misleads
Sorry LG Optimus G owners, it looks like there's no Android 4.4 KitKat update after all.
LG recently confirmed to GottaBeMobile that a Facebook post stating that Android 4.4 KitKat had started rolling out in Estonia was actually incorrect.
"Mistakenly, there has been information spreading via LG Electronics Estonia Facebook page that LG Optimus G (E975) will receive an Android 4.4 KitKat update in Estonia this week. We confirm that it is not so and sincerely apologize for any given false or ambiguous information. We confirm that in Estonia, LG Optimus G did get an update this week that allows users to use 4G internet. The update is available only for operator Elisa clients (https://www.elisa.ee/). But, to confirm once again — it was not Android 4.4 KitKat update."
There's still no concrete information on when Android 4.4 KitKat will arrive for the LG Optimus G — French carrier SFR raised some hopes earlier this year when it stated KitKat would release for the Optimus G in October/November, but even the carrier soon withdrew its statement. With other major flagship smartphones from manufacturers such as HTC, Samsung, and Sony all expected to receive Android 4.4 KitKat sometime during Q1 2014, it's hard to believe LG will lag too far behind the competition.
