Google Glass 2 'Enterprise Edition' Release Date & Specs: Wearable Packed With These Features? [Rumors]
The release date of the next instalment of the Google Glass is looming based on job listings from the company, though Google itself has not released any details on this.
A recent Daily Mail article said the upcoming device will be be waterproof, more durable, and foldable.
The same report also said that the new addition fro Google will not bear the name Google Glass 2.0 but will be tagged as the "Enterprise Edition."
In terms of appearance, the new Google Glass is expected to have a similar design as that of the Explorer Edition.
"It has been tweaked, though, and there are at least a few differences noticeable from the outside. It folds like a regular pair of glasses, and because it's first and foremost being built for the workplace, it has a more rugged build and appearance," explained 9t05google.
Daily Mail also noted that the head-mounted technology is now better to use underwater since there is less chance for the water to enter the inside of the device.
Along with this upgrade, the upcoming Google Glass will also look and feel "practical and industrial" according to 9t05google.
Other features believed to come with the device as per the same report are the following:
- A larger prism display for a better viewing experience
- An Intel Atom processor that brings better performance
- Moderately improved battery life
- Better heat management
All these changes will make the new version a step higher than its predecessor because many users have complained of several issues like short battery life and heat problems.
According to Softpedia, they expect the device to be as sturdy as ever, noting that it should be built to stand even the toughest situations.
The Google Glass is believed to be equipped with a Wi-Fi support of 802.11a/b/g/n/ac on 2.4GHz and 5 GHz bands connectivity "to enhance the huge amount of video streaming that will probably take place during work activities in industrial contexts," added Softpedia.
There are also still no reports on how much the device will cost, but buyers are hoping that it will not be far from the $1,500 tag of the first instalment launched in 2013 in the United States.
''We kept on it, and when it started to come together, we began the Glass Explorer Program as a kind of 'open beta' to hear what people had to say," the Google development team said as quoted by the Daily Mail report.
"Glass was in its infancy, and you took those very first steps and taught us how to walk. Well, we still have some work to do, but now we're ready to put on our big kid shoes and learn how to run."
