'Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain' Prologue 'Ground Zeroes' Predicts Hideo Kojima's Fate?
After the recent split between famous game designer Hideo Kojima and Konami, the public are still questioning the reason behind their falling out.
But the prologue of the upcoming game "Metal Geal Solid 5: The Phantom Pain," called "Ground Zeroes," indicated that Kojima knew about the impending split, according to GameRant.
GameRant added that a message in the prologue revealed Kojima's knowledge of the recent turn of events.
GameRant said this was seen during the Deja Vu mission of the game with players tasked to remove logos of Kojima from buildings that showed the names of all the Metal Gear titles that the game developer has worked on for years.
PushSquare reported that while working on the mission, gamers will have an encounter with non-player character Benedict Miller, who urged players to get rid of all the titles that Kojima directed, with him even commenting that the Metal Gear Acid did not look special.
Miller also added, "You erased all the markings... but every one of them will always be with you."
The mission ends with a special message from the game developer that read, "Thank you for all your support."
GameRant said that this part of the game "eerily mirrors" the current situation of Kojima and Konami.
"The company initially removed and then replaced Kojima's name on old Metal Gear titles, and then just recently, removed the Kojima Productions logo from the 'Metal Gear Solid 5' box art," said the same report.
An earlier Kotaku report indicated the removal of the Kojima Productions brand from the upcoming game has prompted Konami to apologize to its gamers.
"In accordance with the recent change in production organization of all of Konami, Kojima Productions, as well as other internal production companies, has had its name, etc., changed to move into the corporate headquarters work structure," the company said via its Twitter account.
Konami said that though the name and organization changed, their team is still working for Kojiima.
"Naturally, director Kojima is playing the game, checking all the small details and giving directions to the staff as the title continues to completion. Bringing the thoughts and ideas of director Kojima in an open world game of the size of TPP is incredibly difficult, the director and the team that's been there from the start are coming together as one as they aim to finish the game, so please give them the support they need," the company added in its series of tweets.
According to GameSpot, a source has revealed to them that the game developer will leave the Konami studio by the end of the year after the completion and release of the game.
The game's prologue, "Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes," is now available for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
The full game, "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" will be available for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on Sept. 1 while its PC release is scheduled for Sept. 15.
