'FIFA 16' Cover, Trailer & Release Date: Top 3 Gameplay Features to Watch Out For
The US cover for "FIFA 16" has been released Monday and it featured US Women's soccer player Alex Morgan alongside with football superstar Lionel Messi.
The EA Sports website said that they chose Morgan after she and her teammates grabbed the FIFA Women's World Cup last July 5.
Revealing the cover on their site, Morgan was seen clad in her USWNT kit. She is described as a great athlete, even at the young age of 26.
"Since joining the national team in 2010, she has made 91 appearances with 52 goals," EA Sports said.
"In addition to her recent World Cup medal, she won gold at the 2012 London Olympics, was 2012 US Soccer athlete of the year and a finalist for FIFA World Player of the Year."
According to Time,Messi will also share the cover with Canadian Women's National Team player Christine Sinclair for the game's Canada copies.
Morgan and Sinclair's inclusion in the cover of the game came after EA announced that the upcoming soccer video game "will be the first in the franchise's history to give gamers the option of competing with women's teams," adds the Time report.
The game will reportedly include a number of women's national teams like US, Canada, England and Germany.
"As soon as we knew Women's National Teams were joining FIFA 16, we immediately recognized that Christine and Alex would be the perfect cover athletes based on their accomplishments and what they represent for their respective countries and the sport of women's soccer," said EA Sports Senior Manager of North America Marketing David Pekush in the game's official website.
When the game launches for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 on September 25, it is expected to come with great features like:
No Touch Dribbling
According to Squawka, the game will feature the "no touch dribbling" technique of cover star Messi.
"The outcome is that now players can fake without the ball which will provide an entirely new way of dribbling and beating a man. Any player will be able to do it, but there will be varying levels of skill depending on the player in question's skill level," said the same report.
A number of improvements
MoviePilot said there will be 25 expected changes on the game especially in terns of "defensive mechanics featuring improved sliding, fake tackles and in-air tackles." FIFA 16 is also expected to come with dynamic crossing where strikers will meet the ball while on the run and make their defense.
Better defense
MoviePilot also reported that the game has upgraded its goalkeeper to improve the last line of defines during the game.
