Samsung Galaxy S6 Plus & S6 Edge Plus Release Date: New Phablet Resembling Galaxy Note 4? Specs, Features & Price Here [Rumors]
Based from recent leaks, the upcoming Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is claimed to resemble the Galaxy Note 4. The same photos also shared vital information on another expected Samsung release, the Galaxy S6 Plus.
Engadget said that the "extra-large version of its dual-curve flagship" has almost the same screen as the Note 4, which is estimated at about 5.7 inches.
"There are no obvious hardware tricks here -- the curve isn't pronounced enough for a Note Edge-style strip, and you certainly aren't going to find a pen, microSD slot or removable battery," added the same report.
According to a similar report from The Verge, the S6 Edge Plus leak also looked a lot bigger than its baby brother, which only donned a 5.1-inch display. It added that specifications of the device have not yet been released, but rumors note that it can come with 32 GB of storage, 16-megapixel rear shooter and 5-megapixel front cameras. The unit will also run on Android 5.1.1.
For its other features, GSM Arena detailed that the phone will come with an accelerometer, gyro, proximity, wireless charging, Smart Stay, OneDrive (115 GB cloud storage), active noise cancellation with dedicated mic as well as S-Voice natural language commands and dictation.
This S Voice feature will reportedly recognize voice commands of users "right away" and can launch phone applications in seconds.
The device is expected to launch with the Galaxy Note 5 this coming August 12 to avoid any competition with iPhone's expected release of its new line-up of mobile phones and other devices come September.
Meanwhile, similar leaked photos of the Galaxy S6 Plus revealed that it may come with a 5.5-inch display as per Digital Trends. It also noted that the device will come with two curved edges. "It looks very much like the current Galaxy S6 Edge, only bigger," added Digital Trends.
The phone is claimed to measure154.45 x 75.80 x 6.85mm and will come with a 3,000mAh battery, which is slightly better than that of the Galaxy S6 Edge.
As for its processor, Digital Trends said a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor similar to that used by LG may be used for the device. It is also said to have 32GB of internal storage, a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
The device may also have an S Pen stylus which is normally found on the Note series though this is still being debated online.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Plus, according to PC Advisor, still has no definite price, but it noted that the handset could be pegged around £700 ($1,080). The same applies to the S6 Edge Plus, which is estimated to cost more than the S6 Edge.
Both devices are also expected to be available before the year ends.
