'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Cast & Trailer: Are These New Characters? Plot Spoilers & Release Date Here
Much to the delight of "Star Wars" fans, the first look of Carrie Fisher's Princess Leia was revealed in a behind-the-scenes video at the San Diego Comic Con, exuding an aura of power and authority in the series as she always did.
Here are other spoilers from the SDCC video, as noted by Business Insider:
1) R2-D2 is said to have a new character friend, called the droid BB-8. Don't worry though, C3-P0 will still be making an appearance as well. Techno Buffalo noted that BB-8 can copilot Dameron's ship.
2) Lupita Nyong'o will be in the film as an alien, although not much is known about her character yet. There will also be a new bad guy, named Kylo Ren. Unfortunately, as with many things on the film, there is not much that is known about him, either.
3) The stormtroopers will have new weapons, including flamethrowers.
However, while fans equated Leia's appearance (and the Comic Con video) to their excitement at seeing Han Solo and Chewbacca, there are more details that are revealed regarding the next "Star Wars" film, although this time, news was revealed via new LEGO sets.
Leaked photos of some LEGO sets revealed previously unknown characters, including one named Tasu Leech, as well as a group called the Kanjiklub gang. However, as noted by Slash Film, details regarding their roles in "The Force Awakens" are scarce.
More LEGO sets will be coming in September, and Rebel Scum has released the list of mini figures that fans and collectors can look forward to acquiring. Some of them are the following:
75099 - Rey's Speeder with Rey and Unkar Henchman mini figures
75100 - First Order Snowspeeder with First Order Snowtrooper x2 and Snowtrooper Officer mini figures
75101 - First Order Special Forces TIE Fighter with First Order TIE Fighter Pilot x2, First Order Officer, and First Order Ground Crew mini figures
Check out the rest of the models and their corresponding descriptions here.
The newly released sets somehow reveal more about the plot of the film. For instance, the name Unkar Henchman has never been heard of in the Star Wars universe before, so this may be a new alien race. Star Wars Underworld noted that at the exhibit at the Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, several props and costumes were revealed, some of which could belong to Unkar Henchman.
The LEGO Sets will be available in September, and "The Force Awakens" will hit theaters a few months later, On Dec. 18.
