Donald Trump's Replacement for 'Celebrity Apprentice' Found? Get the Details Here!
A few days ago, a report from Page Six claimed that George Lopez is in negotiation with NBC to replace Donald Trump as the host of "Celebrity Apprentice." Just recently, a source confirmed that the TV host will not fill the position left behind by the Republican presidential candidate.
The Wrap reported that there is "no truth" in the rumors circulating around about Lopez's involvement with "Celebrity Apprentice," according to a source with knowledge of the search for a new host.
"There have been initial conversations with George Lopez's representatives, and, given Donald Trump's crazy comments, George would be the perfect loud response to Trump," Page Six claimed, citing an unnamed source in a report published on Tuesday, July 14.
NBC, along with Univision, cut ties with Trump after his offensive remarks against Mexican immigrants, labeling them as rapists, criminals, and drug dealers.
Lopez, 54, is known for his humor about Latino culture and racism in his stand-up comedy bits, The Wrap reported. The Mexican-American host also joked about the issues in his self-titled ABC TV series that aired from 2002 to 2007, and in his TBS talk show "Lopez Tonight."
On July 15, Lopez tweeted a response to the rumors of his "Celebrity Apprentice" casting. He wrote: "There's talk about me taking over the apprentice, instead of your fired? I'd say #VelesVerga." Daily Mail noted that the "velas verga" translates to "you're a d**k" in English.
"If he wins in 2016, he won't have to worry about immigration, we'll all go back," the comedian previously said, as quoted by Daily Mail. Lopez also retweeted a photo of a group of friends giving the middle finger to Trump's Hollywood Walk of Fame star.
Trump, meanwhile, is not backing down in his comments against Mexican immigrants. In another statement, the business magnate claimed that his remarks in his candidacy speech on June 16 are "deliberately distorted by the media," CBC reported.
"Likewise, tremendous infectious disease is pouring across the border. The United States has become a dumping ground for Mexico and, in fact, for many other parts of the world." he said, as quoted by the news outlet.
During a charity golf tournament last week, Trump, 69, said that his poll standing reflects Americans' support of his insights.
"I think the polls are a testament," he said, as reported by Daily Mail. "In the old days, they used to use a term, 'the silent majority.' We have the silent majority back, folks."
Various organizations, such as Televisa, Ora TV, and Macy's, have severed their connections with Trump. The New York Yankees, however, refuse to cut ties with him because, according to the team's co-chairman Hank Steinbrenner, Trump is "a loyal friend and I am loyal to my friends," the news outlet added.
