Megyn Kelly Destroys Christmas Spirit and John Stewart Makes Her Pay
Megyn Kelly ruined Christmas.
According to the Fox News host, Santa Claus is white, and it’s not up for debate. On Wednesday's “The Kelly File,” she slammed a Slate article written by a black journalist that pondered our standard depictions of Saint Nick as a white jolly fellow and suggested that the traditional elf should be replaced by a penguin.
“For all you kids watching at home, Santa just is white,” Kelly said. “Santa is what he is… I wanted to get that straight.”
Regardless of her take on the color of his skin, it’s nice to know that Fox at least believes in Santa. In fact, it’s surprising that Kelly didn’t ruin Christmas for children worldwide. But let’s be honest, that doesn’t excuse her from her previous comments.
Kelly delivered her opinion amidst a heated panel discussion on the War on Christmas. “Just because [an image] makes you feel uncomfortable doesn’t mean it has to change,” she said. “I mean, Jesus was a white man too. He was a historical figure. That’s a verifiable fact. As is Santa. I just want the kids watching to know that.” Phew, thanks Kelly.
After Kelly's holiday tirade, John Stewart took things to the next level. On Thursday’s episode of “The Daily Show,” Stewart berated Kelly for her comments and debunked her entire argument. After Steward delivered his dumfounded reaction to Kelly's comments, he turned things over to Senior Christmas Historical Accuracy Correspondent Jessica Williams, who said, “Sorry, Santa’s not black just because some blogger wishes he was, just like Megyn’s not black just because she spells her name creatively.” Not only that, but if Santa was indeed black, there’d be a lot less “excitement" when he came down the chimney and a lot more 911 calls.
Thanks Kelly and Stewart. Christmas just got more colorful.
