'Mockingjay-Part 2' Trailer & Release Date: Is Katniss Killing President Coin? New 'The Hunger Games' Posters & Spoilers Here!
Comic-Con attendees had been treated with a near-spoil of the highly anticipated franchise-concluding film "Hunger Games: Mockingjay-Part 2" from no less than its own Director Francis Lawrence.
During the event held on Thursday, Lawrence with the cast led by the "star-crossed lovers" of District 12, played by Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson, faced the Comic-Con International panel in San Diego to answer questions from fans and the press, The Guardian stated.
Joining them on stage was Conan O'Brien, who presented the flick's official trailer showing Katniss Everdeen clad in a red battle suit.
Business Insider gave a brief summary of where the plot of the "Hunger Games: Mockingjay-Part 1" ended:
Jennifer Lawrence's Katniss Everdeen and the rest of her crew from District 13 would continue on their quest to bring down the oppressive reign of the Capitolunder the control of President Snow (played by Donald Sutherland).
Makers of the film made it a point to direct the audience's fury at President Snow, the series's main antagonist since the first movie.
However, director Lawrence may have revealed that more unexpected twists would be happening in the final installment other than Snow's defeat.
Those who were able to read the trilogy authored by Suzanne Collins may already know this but, apparently, Katniss Everdeen would be going after not one but two Presidents in her journey to liberate Panem as their 'Mockingjay.'
"I think you know this is where Katniss kind of gets back into action. She was a bit sidelined in the last movie, and going through some of her own issues, but this time she's finally going after Coi-," he accidentally told the panel.
After realizing that he almost revealed what is most probably the story's biggest twist of all, Lawrence quickly corrected himself by saying, "uh, after Snow."
Unfortunately, fans of the "Hunger Games" franchise have already gotten enough of the statement to realize what the secret twist may involve a different President who was recently introduced in "Mockingjay Part 1" - President Alma Coin.
Coin, portrayed by Julianne Moore, was introduced as a potential ally for the movie's protagonist.
However, the book followed a path which puts Katniss and President Coin at a point where the former begins to question the latter's intentions, especially after a destructive explosion that killed one of its major characters.
As the series comes to its end, Jennifer Lawrence, who had been given a huge break after playing District 12's "Girl on Fire," expressed how the story and the character she portrayed had become a major part of her life.
"I don't really feel like [the end] has happened yet. It's such a huge part of my life. These movies changed my life. I don't think I'll ever say goodbye. Katniss is a part of me," the Guardian quoted her saying.
"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2" is due out in theaters on November 20, 2015.
