'X-Men: Apocalypse' Cast & Trailer: Hugh Jackman Confirmed as Wolverine? What We Know So Far
After confirming talks with the people behind the much-awaited film, any announcement that Hugh Jackman would appear again as the 'Wolverine' in the franchise concluding flick "X-Men: Apocalypse" have yet to surface.
According to Slash Film, updates on whether or not the actor would be playing his iconic role in the film have yet to be revealed, noting that the last thing Jackman confirmed was that he had been "speaking with the guys" and was not free to talk about the details.
His statement was recorded last year in an interview with Wolf Pop's Happy Sad Confused last year.
Fans are hungry for more information. Slash Film also recently revealed another possible source of information about the matter.
"We were just asked to make a special duffle backpack for Hugh Jackman who is filming the new X MEN movie in Montreal. We started sketching - The bag will be ready next week- we will keep you posted," Kika NY, a leather goods company based in Brooklyn, allegedly wrote last month on Instagram.
The post is already deleted, but AintItCool.com noted that the crew of "Apocalypse" have indeed been shooting "in and around Montreal."
More disappointingly, even X-Men Director Bryan Singer was unable to shed light on this matter. However, he mentioned that the upcoming film would serve as a "potential rebirth" of the characters who would mostly appear as their teenage selves.
Friday last week, Singer explained to Entertainment Weekly how the highly-anticipated follow-up to "X-Men: Days of Future Past" would present teen incarnations of the X-Men, while introducing popular X-Men villain Apocalypse and Psylocke, a new telepathic mutant to be played by Olivia Munn.
"This is kind of a conclusion of six X-Men films, yet a potential rebirth of younger, newer characters," he explained, referring to the main characters of the comic series.
Singer dubs this flick as "the true birth of the X-Men."
The cast would include Alexandra Shipp as Storm; Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Kodi Smit-McPhee as the Nightcrawler, and Sophie Turner as Jean Grey.
The film, due in theaters on May 27 next year, is said to be set in 1983 when the first mutants Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Charles (James McAvoy), and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) would be taking sides while the "god-like" mutant Apocalypse is plotting how he would destroy the world.
