Xiaomi Mi 5 Leak Reveals Stunning Display & Killer Camera! Release Date, Specs, Features & Price Rumors
Details of the fifth generation flagship of Chinese cellphone company Xiaomi have leaked online, showing that it will have great camera and other features to surely amaze fans of the brand.
Indian Express reported that the new Xiaomi Mi5 claims to have a 5.2-inch QHD (1440x2560 pixels) 2K display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC processor, and could come with 4GB of RAM.
The most anticipated feature of the handset, according to the Indian Express, is a 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8MP front camera.
Expected to be launched this coming November, the Mi5 is also believed to have a "glossy black cover with trademark 'Mi' logo at the bottom," according to the International Business Times.
On the right side of the device will bethe two cameras separated only by an LED flash light. IBT reports that there is still no announcement or credible proof on the features of the device but noted that there is already a trend in smarthphones to make dual-cameras.
"Even Xiaomi's Chinese arch rival OnePlus is also reported to have incorporated the dual-camera on the rear side of flagship smartphone slated for release later this month," added IBT.
As for its price, the Xiaomi Mi5 is believed to pegged at around $380.
In addition to its features, NDTV Gadgets reported that the Xiaomi Mi5 could not come with a fingerprint sensor earlier rumoured to be part of the device. NDTV noted that the back panel of the device will be made of glass.
According to Softpedia, the phone's release was originally scheduled last July but was not pushed through due to alleged overheating issues. The company reportedly decided to delay its release in time for the release of the next generation Qualcomm chipsets later this year.
A separate IBT report added that the overheating issues as well as port battery life and a non responsive touchscreen were also experienced by some phones using the Qualcomm processors like the HTC J Butterfly.
"Not long ago, even the flagship HTC One M9 showed symptoms of an overheating problem because of the Snapdragon 810 chip," explained IBT.
This problem, however, has already been resolved by "throttling the clock speed of the chipset under certain conditions," which prevented the chipsets from overheating.
With the expected release of the Mi5, fans are already looking forward to developments put together by the team at Xiaomi. The release will also prove if the delay was worth the wait.
