OnePlus 2 Launching in 3 Models? All-Metal Flagship Release Date, Specs & Price Details Here [News & Rumors]
The countdown to the release of OnePlus 2 this July excited everyone after rumors surfaced that the company would be releasing the highly-anticipated device in three models.
According to Bell Jar News, the models would carry build names A2001, A2003, and A2005 which have been certified to sport hardware version 2.2 and software version 2.01, particularly for its Bluetooth 4.1 specification.
The report, however, is still getting more information on how the three models would differ, noting some speculations. One claims that the three versions would have varying internal storage, while another suggests that the model numbers refer to the materials used on the back of the device.
Specifications of the upcoming mobile device have yet to be confirmed but Tech Radar got word that it would have a super-slim body made of all-metal.
While the report cited that the image they got their hands on may probably be be fan-made, Phone Arena noted how OnePlus CEO did drop hints on his Weibo account about a "full metal" body.
To further pique smartphone consumers' interests, the official OnePlus website revealed some specifications that the upcoming phone would be featuring.
On its 81st week, OnePlus proudly revealed that the One Plus 2 would have "an extremely fast and accurate fingerprint sensor" which has allegedly been "done right."
"In the past, fingerprint sensors were great in concept," the forum article stated, adding that the technology has not reached the point where the feature would be useful for the users.
"It's refined and lightning quick, unlocking your device faster than TouchID. The average person checks their phone over 200 times per day. If you spend just three seconds inputting a PIN number or pattern, that's over an hour of your time gone each week," the post read, adding that the One Plus 2 fingerprint sensor would be able to store up to five fingerprint profiles.
The company also noted that since One Plus 2 is a flagship phone, it should also have flagship features which would be "impressive, thoughtful and versatile."
Past posts from One Plus also revealed other features including a Type-C USB port which can be used for charging and data transfer; Qualcomm® SnapdragonTM 810 v2.1 CPU in 64-bit; Adreno 430 GPU; and OxygenOS.
To make the experience more exciting and fascinating, the company decided to launch this next generation phone via virtual reality on July 27, 2015.
