San Diego Chargers vs Denver Broncos: NFL Thursday Night Football Preview, TV & Live Stream Schedule, Score, Preview
The San Diego Chargers (6-7) and Denver Broncos (11-2) offenses are likely to light up the scoreboard on Thursday Night Football with both offenses capable of throwing big numbers and lots of points.
Broncos QB Peyton Manning is five touchdowns from matching New England Patriots QB Tom Brady's single-season record for most touchdowns, currently standing at 45 touchdowns for the season. Manning threw for 397 yards and four touchdown passes, pummeling the Tennessee Titans 51-28 last week. In the last two weeks, Manning has nine touchdown on 800 yards and only two interceptions.
Another big game by Manning could help the Broncos clinch the AFC West division title, with a win over the Chargers and a Kansas City Chiefs loss on Sunday against the Oakland Raiders.
"Our goal every year is to win the division No. 1, and obviously (if you) you win your division you're in the playoffs," said Broncos head coach John Fox, who returned to the sidelines last week after undergoing a heart procedure on November 4. "That's still our goal, always has been our goal and we still have three games and on a short week we got a division opponent coming to our place."
Despite a sub-.500 record, the San Diego Chargers are in playoff contention and hope to keep their chances alive as they try to keep pace with the Miami Dolphins and the Baltimore Ravens, just a game behind in both teams standings for the second AFC wild-card spot.
The Chargers have managed to stay in playoff contention with a potent offense that can move the ball on defenses, ranked fourth in the NFL averaging 400,5 yards per game and second in the league with a 48.2 third-down conversion rate.
San Diego QB Philip Rivers has thrown for 3,882 yards, 26 touchdowns and notched a 106.4 passer quarterback rating, including a three touchdown performance last week against the New York Giants, going 21-of-28 for 249 yards and defeating them 37-14 last week.
"We're one game back with three weeks to go," said Rivers analyzing the Chargers chances of getting into the postseason. "Let's go and see what happens."
