'Red Dead Redemption 2' Release Date Set Before 'GTA 6'? Original Title Leads Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Voting
It seems like the "Red Dead Redemption 2" will come out earlier than the "Grand Theft Auto 6" and will also be available for the PlayStation and Xbox consoles in the coming months or years.
In a blog post by Rockstar Games, the company noted that it is also preparing for the sequels of their other games like "Red Dead Redemption 2," aside from focusing on GTA.
According to Kpopstarz, this sparked rumors on the release date of the game with the developer realising "how the franchise is still being accepted by the fans even though the release date of the original game have been long gone."
"It's wonderful to see so much excitement and enthusiasm for the Red Dead series, and nearly 5 years after Red Dead Redemption's release(!). As we've mentioned when asked in the past about new games in other series such as Red Dead Redemption, Bully and L.A. Noire, we don't always rush to make sequels, but that does not mean we won't get to them eventually," explained Rockstar in its blog.
The company added that it is planning to release a lot of games since fans are really at their back supporting its releases.
Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick also confirmed that a release date may happen soon for Red Dead though he said that they still need to improve the game's quality.
"The risk of just [releasing more games] is that you end up just bulking up your release schedule and that isn't really what consumers want. Consumers want better, not more," Zelnick added.
Gamespresso noted that Microsoft has already announced at the recent E3 that it is working to make Xbox One "backwards compatible," which is expected to take more time.
"In a move to be commended, Microsoft has given gamers the ability to vote for which titles get the treatment first. It's nice that instead of deciding what we want for us, we're actually being asked," added the same report.
Based on the votes, "Red Dead Redemption" is on top of the list with over 60,000 votes followed by "Black Ops 2" with 57,000 then "Skyrim" with about 55,000.
Other games on the top 10 list include "Modern Warfare 2" and "Halo: Reach."
With the "Red Dead Redemption 2" nearing its release date, game enthusiasts and fans are expecting major changes to happen in the game.
A Movie Pilot report suggested that developers could change the setting of the game to Japan.
The same report added fans would want to see a "more dynamic fighting system" not only for "Red Dead" but also for "GTA 6."
"If we could have an online arena with fist fights and championships, I'd love to see Rockstar develop some ideas for an improved combat system," added Movie Pilot.
