'Agents of SHIELD' Season 3 Release Date & Spoilers: Secret Warriors, Skye's Teaser & More

Director Coulson(Clark Gregg) and the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D found out last season about the existence of the Inhumans, entities living apart from society. The biggest mystery, however, is Agent Skye (Chloe Bennet).

It looks like there is more to learn about the mysterious characters of the show because the teaser in the "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" Instagram account showed her with a secret message. The account urged fans to screenshot the photo and adjust the filter to a lighter one, which revealed the message to be "Can you keep a secret?" Comic Book Resources read this as a reference to "Secret Warriors," the series from which the show is influenced from. According to the website, in that series, Daisy Johnson (Skye) is going to lead a team of superpowered individuals called a caterpillar team - something that has already been teased when Coulson gave her a blue folder marked "Caterpillar" in the finale.

In line with that, there will also be new characters working with Skye, but while characters like Deathlok and Lincoln are already sure to be part of the group, Donnie Gill/Blizzard is still in question because he could also turn out to be a villain, as noted by Movie Pilot.

There is also a possibility of AoS being part of "Captain America: Civil War." Gregg told website Comic Book, "If you've ever read any of the 'Civil War' comics, you'll know that S.H.I.E.L.D. is very much part of a group that's trying to register the superheroes, and that really divides and forces some S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents..."

A reference to Daredevil could also be in the third season. While a tie-in may be far off, and Matt Murdock may not be making an appearance, there could be another easter egg that could link AoS with Daredevil. Movie Pilot added that in Daredevil, Carl "Crusher" Creel made n appearance in a boxing match advertisement, and the same Creel appeared at the beginning of AoS season 2.

Finally, nobody knows what happened to Simmons. Elizabeth Henstridge, who played the role of Jemma Simmons, said that when her character was absorbed by the rock, she thinks it may have transported her somewhere. Movie Pilot however, said that fans have a different theory altogether - it could have given her superpowers instead. That would mean that she's a potential villain next season.

There's little that has been confirmed regarding the third season of AoS, but the show will be back on September 29 at 9 p.m. on ABC.
