Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Update Release Date: Verizon Pushes Out New Patch OTA, Contains New Apps and Fixes
Verizon Wireless isn't exactly known for releasing Android updates in a timely manner, but it looks like Galaxy Note 3 owners on Big Red are being treated to a new update courtesy of the nation's largest wireless carrier.
The update, build JSS15J.N900VVRUBMJE, is currently rolling out over the air in typical Android fashion, meaning it's phased and won't be available for download by everybody in the beginning. It should land on all Galaxy Note 3s on Verizon's network over the course of the next week, however.
The firmware update isn't anything too special, although it does bring more changes than past stability fixes have. Along with the usual security and performance tweaks, the upgrade contains four new Verizon apps as well as improvements to connectivity and sound quality. E-mail sync issues and other bugs have also been rectified.
For a full list of changes, you can visit the official Verizon support page for the Galaxy Note 3.
There's no word on whether the same fix will release for other carriers' Galaxy Note 3s.
It's not as exciting as a brand new version of Android, but Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 3 owners will have to make due with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean for another couple months. While nothing is official, rumors indicate that Samsung is gearing up to release Android 4.4 KitKat for the popular handset sometime during the first quarter of 2014.
