MLB Trade Rumors 2014 Update: Mark Trumbo Headed To Arizona In Three-Team Trade With Angels and Chicago White Sox

The Los Angeles Angels, Arizona Diamondbacks and the Chicago White Sox completed a three-team deal on Tuesday night that would send Mark Trumbo to the Diamondbacks, Adam Eaton to the White Sox, and Hector Santiago and Tyler Skaggs to the Angels.

The Diamondbacks, which will also receive another player to be named later, added additional right-handed power to their roster that will be paired with Paul Goldschmidt.

Trumbo, who had 30 home runs in each of the last two seasons, expressed excitement with the new chapter of his career, saying that he will prove that Arizona made the right move of shedding key players for him in the three-team deal.

"I'm really excited for the opportunity," Trumbo said in an MLB.com interview. "It's pretty obvious that Arizona made a very strong commitment as far as bringing me over and ended up trading some very good talent in order to acquire me. That says a lot. For me as a player, you always want to go where you're wanted and give your best effort for somebody who's made some sacrifices to get you."

Last season, the 27-year-old Trumbo batted .234 with 34 home runs and 100 RBIs. Diamondbacks general manager Kevin Towers is also excited to see how the Trumbo-Goldschmidt pairing will work out for them next season.

"Two of the probably better right-handed power bats in the National League," Towers said when asked about their new right-handed combination. "Excited for Spring Training. Excited to see how it all works. Had to give up a lot to get it, but I think we're all pretty happy with how things worked out."

On the other hand, White Sox general manager Rick Han said that moving Santiago was a difficult decision, but they were determined to acquire Eaton, whom he believes will bring success to the team in the long run.

"This was a pretty targeted strike on Adam Eaton and there were a few other similar names we were discussing Hector with and it was for similar players who we feel are long-term fits," Hahn told ESPN. "Obviously the No. 1 goal of this trade was to acquire Adam Eaton. That allows us to balance out the lineup."
