NASCAR Driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. Engaged to Longtime GF Amy Reimann
Nascar driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. proposed to his longtime girlfriend Amy Reimann in Germany Wednesday during a vacation.
On her Twitter account, Reimann posted a photo of her and the racer inside a church while showing off her engagement ring.
"I'm completely overwhelmed with love & joy. Happiest girl in the world! I love you so much @DaleJr," she said in the photo caption.
Earnhardt quoted his fiancee's tweet and said: "Looking forward to the rest of my life with this amazing girl."
According to USA Today, at the age of 40, the Nascar racer has never been married and has been secretive about his past relationships except for the one with Reimann. The same report said that his fans have often asked him when he will propose.
"The people we interact with on Twitter are, 'When are you going to do it? Pop the question already. She gets it more than I do: People telling her all the time I need to put a ring on it. When I turned 40, it really ramped up. People are like, 'Man, your time is running out. Amy is a good girl, what are you waiting for?'" he once told USA Today.
A similar Fox Sports report said the racer downplayed rumors about the engagement a few months back.
"Not yet. Me and Amy are doing great, though, and we're heading in the right direction," he said of their more than three-year relationship.
"If I want to get engaged, I don't want to spoil the surprise on Dan Patrick's radio show. It's not the time. The timing's not right," he added.
The racer also said in an Us Magazine report that he will not be held accountable to wear a ring and that Reimann can also do what she wants.
"I figure if we ever get to that step in life, I owe her that much. I'll have to put up with (her wearing a ring). But I'm free of all my obligations in that regard," he continued.
But it seems that from that earlier interview, Earnhardt has made decisions that would change his entire life.
In the early stages of their relationship, Larry Brown Sports said the couple's affair broke up Reimann's marriage to former Kentucky football player, Tommy Cook.
"Amy got involved with Dale Earnhardt while she was still married to Tommy. Their marriage didn't even last two years," said Bo Mallette, the best man during Cook's wedding.
On the other hand, Cook's father wanted to put aside the issue from day one.
"My son's not talking about this. All I can say is that your (Enquirer) story's true. Amy and Dale have been involved for awhile. My boy's over it, he's moved on. But what happened between Amy and Dale was wrong," noted Tommy Sr.
Nevertheless, Reimann has clearly moved on to a new chapter of her life with the Nascar racer who has now expressed his intention to spend the rest of his life with her.
