Moto X Phone Rumors: Specs Leak Ahead of October Release Show it Could Be Mid-Range and Reliant On Its Sensor Capabilities
After months of rumors and speculation, Motorola finally announced the Moto X phone at the recent D11 executive conference, stating that it will carry some state of the art technology underneath its hood. A new leak, however, shows that the smartphone could end up being a mid-range handset, rather than a high-end purchase.
Notorious leakster @evleaks seems to have gotten his hands on the specs for the upcoming Moto X.
Motorola moto x: 1.7GHz dual-core MSM8960 Pro, 720p, 2GB/16GB, 10MP/2MP, Android 4.2.2

"Motorola moto x: 1.7GHz dual-core MSM8960 Pro, 720p, 2GB/16GB, 10MP/2MP, Android 4.2.2," @evleaks tweeted.
While @evleaks has been wrong in the past, the insider's information is usually in the right direction. Motorola has not commented on the matter, but if the specs listed above are indeed true, then the Moto X, by the time it releases, will be far behind the pack of high-profile flagship phones like the next Apple iPhone, the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3, and the HTC One.
That might not matter to Google, who owns Motorola, however. The search giant has launched a series of successful smartphones such as the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 4 without top-of-the-line hardware. Instead, Google has opted to create affordable smartphones that deliver a specific experience. The Moto X will look to continue that tradition, as Motorola Mobility CEO Dennis Woodside has stated that the phone will be equipped with an array of sophisticated sensors. The Moto X will be able to tell when it's in your pocket, or when it's in a moving car, adjusting its functionality accordingly.
The phone is slated for a release in October, according to Woodside, alongside other unannounced Motorola projects.
