Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski & Red Sox DH David Ortiz Star in Funny Dunkin Donut Ad
New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski and Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz recently appeared in a Dunkin' Donuts commercial which is considered to be the biggest hit this summer.
The advertisement called "Summer Chill" celebrated the chain's legendary iced coffee with the two NFL stars featured. WCVB said that the first single, "Sippin" was released on Monday with an accompanying music video.
According to NESN, the NFL duo sang "Sippin" with a tune which "actually is strangely catchy." Their music video also looked great with them hanging out by a pool and trying all kinds of fun summer activities.
A similar Yahoo Sports report said that Bronk and Ortiz wore enormous sunglasses while they try to carry a pretty tune in the entire video.
"I also really need to see these guys riding a tandem bike around Boston. The best part of the video is up for debate," said Yahoo Sports report author Sam Cooper of the advertisement.
Ortiz was able to show one of his talents in the video which is "shredding a cup solo" while Gronk had a sudden heel turn towards the end of the video and spiked his iced coffee.
"This momentous musical pairing between these beloved sports stars tunes in on two things we know New Englanders are exceptionally passionate about: summer and Dunkin' Donuts' Iced Coffee. We hope people will have as much fun enjoying the songs and videos as Gronk and Big Papi had making them," said Dunkin' Donuts field marketing director Patty Healy in a press release.
The company is expected to release three more songs and videos in the summer but there is no confirmation whether the two will continuously be seen in these upcoming promotions.
Last month, Sports Illustrated said Ortiz served Dunkin' Donuts products to Red Sox fans in Salem N.H. in drive-thru windows, thus, surprising a lot of people.
He greeted the fans buying in the chain store, served drinks and also granted photo opportunities to those who wanted to snap a photo with him.
Meanwhile, another good deed from Gronkowski was when he had his head shaved in support of pediatric cancer patients.
A separate Sports Illustrated report said the tight end went bald during the One Mission Buzz Off in Foxboro where he joined 1,000 others who also said goodbye to their hair in an effort to raise $1 million for the cancer patients.
He is also reportedly involved in other charity works like the Gronk Nation Youth Foundation. The NFL player announced in April that he was auctioning a spot on his party bus to raise money for the foundation.
Well, the two are on the spotlight once again, but this time for a more sales-oriented cause, which is surely a hit to a lot of NFL fans.
