iPhone 7 Release Date: 3 Versions Underway? Specs, Features & Price Details Here [Rumors]
There is no official word yet from Apple about the name of its next iPhone mobile device, but some reports are claiming that the smartphone will be labeled as the iPhone 7 when it rolls out in the market.
Listed below are the latest rumors and speculations concerning the iPhone 7. Note that these are all unconfirmed yet and an official announcement from the tech giant is yet to be had.
Design
IT Pro reported that three iPhone designs could be announced this year -- the iPhone 6c, the iPhone 6s, and iPhone 7. The iPhone 6c is said to bear resemblance to the colorful design of the iPhone 5c and its overall look similar to the iPhone 6. This is based on a concept image provided by 3dfuture.
MacWorld claimed that the iPhone 7 will have sidewall displays, which will grant "interactive or touch sensitive portions that give access to the slide to unlock functionality, music player controls, messaging readout, caller ID, system controls and more." Martin Hajek shared a design concept on Business Insider showing an iPhone 7 bearing edge-to-edge glass.
Aside from these, IT Pro also reported that the Apple is planning to release a 7-inch iPhone.
Camera
Apple's $20 million acquisition of Israeli camera company, LinX, means that the giant is prioritizing the integration of a shooter with better quality on their iPhones. LinX has been developing sensors capable of providing SLR-like quality to smartphones, as well as multiple sensors, bespoke optics, and image stabilization, Expert Reviews reported.
Multiple sensors can allow users to adjust focus on their photos even after the shot was already taken, the news outlet noted.
Processor, Battery, & Memory Storage
An A10 processor chip is also expected to power the iPhone 7, Expert Reviews added. Apple will not equip the iPhone with a bigger battery, but the corporation is said to be working on creating innovative battery packs. Apple's software engineers are reportedly developing the iOS to improve the handset's battery life.
As for its memory storage, Expert Reviews said that it could have 256 GB, but it would likely make the iPhone more costly. IT Pro wrote that the iPhone 7 will be the first smartphone from Apple which will sport 2 GB of RAM.
Other Features
The news outlet added that the iPhone 7 will have the Force Touch technology first introduced in the Apple Watch. This feature is a pressure-sensitive touchscreen that can differentiate between a soft tap and a hard press.
For those complaining about the iPhone's fragility, Expert Reviews claimed that the iPhone 7 could have waterproof feature known as Plasma-Assisted Chemical Vapour Deposition (PACVD) to cover the internal components and make them moisture-resistant.
Touch ID sensor and a USB Type-C standard are also said to be included in the iPhone 7, the news outlet noted. Apple could abandon its IPS panels and opt for OLED displays in the smartphone's screen.
Price & Release Date
Expert Reviews speculated that the iPhone 7 will be launched in September 2016 with a starting price of $821 that could reach up to $1065.
