The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is projected to be not only the company's slimmest offering but also the thinnest in the world.

Pocket-Lint said leaked photos of the upcoming device which came out last month showed that it may sport a metal frame just like the Samsung Galaxy S6.

The same report said that the Tab S2 8.0, as it is named, will have a dimension of 198 x 134 x 5.4mm and will weigh just 260g. The 8-inch tablet will reportedly have a 1,536 x 1,048 screen resolution and is expected to have a 9.7-inch version.

According to DigitalTrends, both devices may be powered by a 64-bit Exynos processor and come with 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal memory. Android 5.0.2 Lollipop is said to be the operating system of the Tab S2. As for the camera, the rear-facing shooter is an 8-megapixel one, while its front-facing camera is 2.1-megapixel. There is also WiFi and 4G LTE capability.

It was added in the DigitalTrends report that the tablet versions could be launched as early as this month though there is still no official announcement from Samsung. The Tab S2 will be sold in different parts of the world i.e. the US, Canada, Europe, China, Korea and India.

However, AndroidGuys mentioned that the downside of this device could be its battery life. "The Tab S gets maybe 5-7 hours of on screen time which just isn't that great for a tablet," AndroidGuys wrote, noting that it should optimize its battery life to be more efficient.

A similar PC Advisor report stated that when the device becomes available in the market, it could cost between $489 and $612—for the two versions—taking into consideration the initial price of the Tab S when it was launched last year.

According to VR Zone, Asian telecommunications regulator TENAA disclosed the listing of the Tab S2 8.0, which matched earlier rumors that it will come in 8- and 9-inch variants with 4:3 aspect ratio AMOLED panels. As for its dimensions, the same report said it could beat Dell's 6.1 mm Venue 8 7000 by at least 1mm.

"As you'd expect, the counterpart American agency is far less transparent in regards to Tab S2 9.7's specifications, but for the most part, they should duplicate the Tab S2 8.0 experience on a larger 4:3 panel. With pre-installed Android Lollipop, of course, a bit of extra heft and the same wasp waist and autonomy concerns," suggested VR Zone.

It could just be days before the public can get hold of the complete details of the features of the device and everyone is excited what the Tab S2 can offer to loyal Samsung fans. Will the two versions do better than the previous releases and will they meet the expectations of the public? Stay tuned for more updates.
