Westjet Christmas Ad Proves Christmas Miracles Do Come True
Everyone deserves their own Christmas miracle. Whether it’s the gift you’ve always wanted, a special surprise or a Hollywood ending to an otherwise dismal holiday season, miracles come true every year. This year, a group of passengers aboard Westjet flights from Toronto and Hamilton to Calgary had all their Christmas dreams come true between their departure and arrival.
With the help of a live virtual Santa Claus, the Westjet team was able to learn what the passengers had on their Christmas wishlists. Passengers of all ages submitted their wishes, which varied from a 50’’ television to new socks and underwear. Once everyone boarded the planes, more than 150 Westjet employees scoured Calgary’s department stores to make every passengers’ wish come true.
When the planes landed, the passengers migrated to the baggage claim, which was adorned with Christmas decorations. Several moments later, fake snow began to fall from the ceilings as each passengers’ personal gift descended from the baggage claim, perfectly wrapped and labeled. A true Christmas miracle.
Westjet captured the entire process with hidden cameras and posted the video on YouTube on Sunday. The video has already garnered more than 43,000 views. The airline’s 2012 Christmas commercial featured a flash mob of dancing elves in the middle of an airport. The video received nearly 500,000 views, prompting the airline to donate flights to a family in need. This year, Westjet will donate more flights if the video receives over 200,000 views. That shouldn’t be a problem.
