'Batman vs Superman' Trailer & Release Date: 5 Biggest Plot Spoilers to Watch For [News & Rumors]
One of the most anticipated films next year is "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." However, some are now questioning why the Man of Steel's depiction in the new movie seemed to have veered away from the more recent representation of the caped hero.
Ecumenical News noticed that contrary to the colorful icon, director Zack Snyder has stripped the hero to the core, and went back to an edgier, darker version of the earlier Superman, when he was less god-like than the modern versions.
While it is apparent that Superman has gone less vibrant in the trailer, there are other details that we do know about the upcoming film, and here are a few spoilers to watch out for:
1) Promotional art starring Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in a sword and shield has surfaced online, however, according to the International Business Times, it seems that the film will give the Amazonian woman a love interest, in the form of Chris Pine. The website said that the "Star Trek" actor in in talks to play Steve Trevor, Wonder Woman's primary love.
2) Unlike the past "Batman" films, Ben Affleck's hero is a "seasoned superhero with decades of experience," as described by website Comic Book. The actor himself described his hero to be "weary" with a back story that most likely already included the death of the first Robin, or Dick Grayson, as some leaked photos showed his gravestone.
3) Cyborg and Aquaman will be appearing in the film, with the latter confronting Superman over the damage of the Kryptonian attack to the ocean. Cyborg, however, is said to have a lesser role, appearing only in a cameo for an ending montage, Comic Book added.
4) While Lex Luthor is the obvious villain, Metallo and Doomsday will also be appearing, with Scoot McNairy expected to play Metallo. Michael Shannon, who also played Zod in "Man of Steel," is expected to voice Doomsday. Unfortunately for Superman, it is in this film that they will unveil his one weakness in a scene where he is confronted by the kryptonite-powered Metallo out of costume, explained Comic Book.
5) To introduce Batman, KG Beast will reportedly appear in a minor role, however, he will be the only one among Batman's villains to appear in the film.
