iPad Mini 4 Release Date Delayed by iPad Pro Plus? The Latest Specs, Features & Price Details Here [Rumors]
The next iteration in Apple's iPad mini line is rumored to arrive in October. Followers would know that the latest in the family, the iPad mini 3, made its debut alongside the iPad Air 2 in the same month last year.
The iPad mini 4 is among today's rumored Apple devices. Although the Cupertino giant has not released its official specs yet, word about them is all over the web, with the Inquisitr managing to get hold of some.
According to the outlet, the new iPad mini is said to be thinner than the previous ones, with a likely 7.9-inch display that boasts better functions than the mini 3. It is also expected to be released through Verizon.
One of the most interesting rumors surrounding the new iPad mini is the possibility of Apple's biggest rival supplying its chipset. As cited by the Ecumenical News, Samsung has made a deal with Apple in supplying the A9 processor.
Bloomberg wrote in an earlier article, "Winning this order from Apple will help the world's second-largest chipmaker rebound against TSMC, which last year ended Samsung's monopoly over contracts to make iPhone and iPad chips."
Both manufacturers have boosted capital expenditures to gain business from Apple and Qualcomm, Bloomberg said, in the $300 (and above) billion semiconductor industry.
Meanwhile, the Ecumenical News has mentioned that the iPad mini 4 is previously expected for announcement at Apple's Spring Forward Event. But as followers would know, the device never made any appearance, with the event showcasing the Apple Watch and the gold Retina MacBook Pro instead.
However, considering the many rumors surrounding its release, there may be hope that the iPad mini 4 will hit stalls by the end of the year.
TechRadar is convinced that the price of the iPad mini 3, which starts at $399, is pretty pricey. Hence, putting the iPad mini 4 at a slightly lesser price could definitely make it more appealing. After all, as the site noted, paying a little extra for a full-sized iPad Air will make more sense rather than pay for an "underpowered" compact device.
However, Macworld also mentioned the possibility of not releasing the iPad mini 4 at all this year, as it seems the company could be focusing on the larger-display-is-in trend, as best highlighted by the iPhone 6 Plus.
It must also be noted that word over the alleged 12.9-inch iPad Pro (aka iPad Pro Plus, among other monikers) continues to make rounds in the grapevine.
As these are just rumors, we just have to wait for official word from Apple. That may take a while, but what do you want to see in the iPad mini 4? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
