'Persona 5' PS4 PS3 Release Date, Gameplay & Trailer: What to Expect From New Game

Atlus' "Persona" franchise only became highly popular among gamers when 2006's "Persona 3" was released. Since then, the franchise has sold 6 million copies worldwide. Now that "Persona 5" will be released this year, it's likely that the RPG will gain more fans.

A financial report from SEGA Sammy hinted that "Persona 5" will be released by the end of 2015.

"In the fiscal year ending March 31, 2016, the Group will launch new titles mainly for the Group's mainstay IP including 'Persona5' which will be the latest title from the Persona series boasting over 6 million total copies sold along with implementing transitions of IP for packaged games such as 'Total War' series into digital games mainly in overseas," said SEGA, as reported by Techno Buffalo.

According to YouthHealthMag, the game could be launched within October to December 2015 in both North America and Japan. Four other games will also be released within the first 2 quarters of 2016's fiscal year, which consists of May 2015's "Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai Deluxe" on Nintendo DS, June's "Stella Glow" also on Nintendo DS, June's "Alien Isolation" for Xbox One and PS4, and "Persona 4: Dancing All Night" for PS Vita.

The use of procedural generation in "Persona 5" provides a fun gaming experience. Movie Pilot wrote that "the 'Persona' games have always had randomly generated dungeon areas, which the developers combine with a few scripted ones." From Software's "Bloodborne" also uses the procedural gaming style, but the game faced issues in some levels - mistakes that "Persona 5" could avoid.

Movie Pilot said that using procedural generation "can also be dangerous in terms of losing some of the game's artistic flair for that of a computer randomly punching in numbers." The news outlet pointed out that the "Persona" franchise's generated levels offer "an endless degree of replay-ability." With this, Atlus should make sure that they wouldn't have the same issues encountered by the "Bloodborne" developers.

"Persona 5" director Katsura Hashino previously spoke about the upcoming game. Here is what he said, as translated by Siliconera:

"For this game, we're going with a challenge that fuses together a juvenile school setting that is as large as life, together with a picaresque romance. In the previous game, we wrote a story that involved having a justice group chase down a bad guy that could easily be feared by just about anyone."

He continued, "This time, it's about a group of high school students that are being 'chased' by unexpected occurrences due to the justice they believe in. We're writing [the story] to convey a thrilling everyday life in the shoes of these characters, that are as large as life, in this juvenile school setting."

Hashino also assured gamers that "Persona 5" will have "evolved graphics and sound" and "more ill-behaved" party members, Siliconera wrote.

"Persona 5" will be released for PS3 and PS4, Venture Capital Post reported.  Watch the trailer below.
