Man Tries to Enter Pentagon With 25 Grams of Marijuana
Our country is slowly loosening its grip on marijuana laws. In some states it’s decriminalized. In others, you can purchase it at select vendors with a medical license. On January 1st, Colorado will legalize the sale of marijuana. Everywhere you turn the drug is gaining acceptance. Before we know it, we’ll be able to buy packs of joints at any gas station and convenience store. Maybe that’s a bit of a long shot, but you get the point. That being said, you can’t just spark up anywhere. Although the rules have slackened, there are some places where it simply won’t fly, like the Pentagon for example. Duh.
According to Foreign Policy’s Gordon Lubold, the Defense Department police strengthened their security last month on civilian employees entering the Pentagon. The police uncovered several knives and other contraband, but then came the unexpected. One man had the audacity and stupidity to carry 25 grams of marijuana on his person into the Pentagon.
“But police also found an unnamed individual who allegedly was holding at least 25 grams of marijuana, just shy of an ounce,” Lubold reports. “Why anyone would bring that much marijuana into the Pentagon is anyone's guess. Twenty-five grams would be considered by most people to be more than what an average marijuana user might consume for personal use.”
It’s one thing to carry that much marijuana with you anywhere, but to take it through recently heightened security measures into the headquarters of the United States Department of Defense is complete absurdity. What’s even worse, he could have refused to have his bag and person checked and walked away. Either he completely forgot because he was too stoned, or for some ridiculous reason he thought he could slip it through.
Weed will be legalized in no time, at least in the majority of our 50 states, but for the time being, use your discretion and some common sense. Don’t be an idiot.
