Jennifer Lopez Ignoring Mariah Carey's BMA Performance? [Watch]
Jennifer Lopez doesn't have time for Mariah Carey's performance at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards.
The "Dance Again" singer noticeably didn't pay attention to Carey while the latter was performing "Vision of Love" and her latest single titled "Infinity" at the star-studded music event. Lopez was seen casually scrolling through her smartphone and appearing to be looking through photos of herself as Carey sang onstage.
The "American Idol" judge didn't even glance at Carey during the singer's whole performance. TMZ caught a video of Lopez throwing shade at her fellow songstress. Watch it here.
According to TMZ, the audience, including Taylor Swift, gave Carey a hand of applause when her number was over. However, Lopez, 45, didn't clap her hands and instead talked to her rumored boyfriend Casper Smart, but that was until the lights went on at the end of Carey's performance. Only then did Lopez clap as the cameras trained its eyes on her.
Life & Style insisted that the Latina beauty wasn't the only one who ignored Carey's BMAs number. Kylie Jenner also appeared to be indifferent all throughout the singer's performance. The 17-year-old TV personality was seen sitting directly behind Lopez with her poker face on and looking like she was in a "trance," the news outlet claimed.
Carey's performance at the 2015 BMAs marks her return to the music event after 17 years. The 14-time Billboard Music Award winner hasn't performed at the awards show since 1998, Entertainment Weekly reported. The 45-year-old songstress has the most number of Billboard Hot 100 No. 1s (a total of 18) than any solo musical artists, Billboard wrote.
The singer is in the middle of her artist residency at Las Vegas named "Mariah #1 to Infinity" which is scheduled until July 26. It appears that Carey and Lopez have something in common with their recent singing engagements, given that just recently, Lopez also announced that she is getting a residency at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino's AXIS Theater in Sin City beginning on January 20, 2016, E! News reported.
"It's about a clean slate and starting anew and really being open to any and everything," Carey said of her concert series in Las Vegas, as quoted by Daily Mail. "The fans have got me here and it's about embracing all fans from all over the world, welcoming them to come and visit us here."
As for what she plans for her career after the artist residency, Carey said that she intends to give some time for herself, referring to her brand new track "Infinity."
"I don't know what is in the future," the songstress said, as reported by Daily Mail. "I think it starts with the message behind the song, love yourself first to infinity and then you can love other people or do your career or do you, but you have to make sure you know where you're coming from."
