'Sherlock' Season 4 Episode 1 Air Date, Release Updates & Trailer: 5 Biggest Spoilers to Watch For [News & Rumors]
Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman will be back for another season of "Sherlock" early next year, but while fans are anticipating the return, it seems that there will also be a lot of dread to go with it considering that --- Spoiler Alert! --- there will be a lot of deaths on the show next season.
Check them Out:
It's a bloodbath
According to Venture Capital Post, the episodes will be much darker with a rise in character deaths. The news outlet noted that there is a possibility that Freeman's John Watson will face heartbreak with the loss of Mary Watson (Amanda Abbington). This is of course, already noted from the original stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, nevertheless, it is still exciting (albeit heartbreaking) to see it translated to TV. There is also a possibility that hers is not the only death that we will see in the upcoming season, so brace yourselves!
Season 4 is about consequences
There are themes for every season, and showrunner Steven Moffat told Entertainment Weekly that series four will be all about consequences. He shared, "It's consequences. Chickens come home to roost. It's dark in some ways - obviously it's great fun and a Sherlock Holmes romp and all that - but there's a sense of things coming back to bite you. It's not a safe, sensible way to live. It's hilarious and exhilarating some days, but some days it's going to be bloody frightening."
Series 4 will begin filming soon
Unfortunately, despite all the leaks from the series, it seems that series four will still have to begin filming in Spring 2016 as reported by Digital Spy. With that, Den Of Geek suggested that the earliest possible time of airing for the next season will not be until January 2017.
However, the Christmas special set in the Victorian era will go on as planned for a December 2015 release.
We will find answers
Unfortunately, the answers that we will find may not be about the poignant points of the show, but rather, a promise from Moffat (via Entertainment Weekly) that it will air answers "to questions which nobody has asked."
No guest stars?
There are no guest stars booked for the fourth season, as far as Moffat confirmed with Entertainment Weekly. As Moffat explained, they don't really have to. "But as Mark [Gatiss] always says, it's better to be a star-maker. We found all these people, Benedict, Scott, Lara Pulver. These people launched careers on the basis of doing the show. It's tough because we got Benedict and Martin-they're probably the two biggest British film stars. If you pay extra money to cast somebody famous, are they actually going to provide you with one single extra viewer?"
Point made, but with all this, some are still hoping that Andrew Scott will make another appearance as Moriarty. Fingers crossed then, don't you think?
