'Orange Is The New Black' Season 3 New Trailer Out! Prison Becomes ‘Home Sweet Home'
It's home, sweet home for Piper and the rest of the "Orange is the New Black" inmates at Litchfield Penitentiary, or so they say in the new series trailer.
Similar to its first version, Variety noted that the clip is set to the tune of a Missy Elliot song --- "We Run This"--- promising that most of the story will be centered around Litchfield, as it has done so in the last two seasons.
As noted by E! News, the new OITNB trailer also had a few flashbacks from the events of the first two seasons, including Piper's arrival at the penitentiary. Then there's the flash-forward to the previews for what's to come, with Black Cindy singing in her underwear and Piper talking about misconceptions of being in prison. At the end of the clip, she said, "People think all we do is have lesbian sex and strip searches and naked cat fights in the shower." But, with a more serious tone, she added, "We also do other things."
It seems that the next season is ripe with anticipation because there are so many questions we need answered about the rest of the cast --- like are Big Boo and Pennsatucky friends now? What was that quip from Black Cindy about her grandma? Why would Poussey be crying?
The series is set to return on Friday, June 12, for its third season, and in relation to its upcoming premiere, a new fan event dedicated to the series, called "OrangeCon" is set in New York for June 11. Not many details have been released regarding the event, however, but as the Wall Street Journal noted, it may be safe to say that fans will be dressing up in their best orange clothes.
So, what else can fans expect from the new season? Laura Gómez summed it up in three sentences, in an interview with Headlines & Global News.
"Season 3 will not disappoint. It's as good, or better, than before. Things are getting steamy," she said.
"Orange is the New Black" stars Taylor Schilling, Laura Prepon, Kate Mulgrew, Danielle Brooks, Uzo Aduba, Natasha Lyonne, Taryn Manning, Laverne Cox, Michael Harney, Samira Wiley, and Yael Stone, and is based on the book by Piper Kerman. Unlike regular TV shows, all 14 episodes for the third season will debut on Netflix on June 12.
