Perez Hilton Welcomes New Baby Girl Mia Alma! 'Love is What Matters Most', Says Blogger
Perez Hilton is now the father of a baby girl named Mia Alma.
The celebrity blogger shared the wonderful news on his gossip site, saying that his daughter was born on Saturday, May 9 at 1:47 PM. The child, which was conceived via a surrogate, weighed 6 lbs 9 oz and measured 19 inches.
"She looks just like her brother and, thus far, is doing everything a newborn should: eating, sleeping and pooping aplenty and with ease," said Hilton, whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira, Jr. "This journey, however, was not so easy. I have been trying to get pregnant again for over a year. With my son, the miracle of life happened after the very first try. With Mia, unfortunately, there was a lot of heartache along the way."
Hilton's first child, his son named Mario Armando Lavandeira III, was born 4 weeks prematurely in 2013, Fox News Latino reported via The Associated Press. According to the celebrity blogger, Mia Alma's name means "my soul" in Spanish, because he's "cheesy" like that, the news outlet added.
The 37-year-old TV personality also revealed that he kept his daughter a secret before she was born and only told his mother and sister, Fox News Latino noted. He also didn't disclose where his baby girl was born to protect the identity of the surrogate.
Hilton said that three failed pregnancy attempts happened before Mia Alma was conceived. According to him, his second child's conception wasn't as easy as his son's, but insists that having children is "a dream come true" and "love is what matters most" in life, Hilton said on his gossip site. He also expressed his support on surrogacy and same-sex marriage.
"This dream of being a parent is something that many Americans share. Gay and straight Americans both use surrogacy to start or add to their families. Yet, in many states, surrogacy is illegal," he explained on Perez Hilton. "As the Supreme Court is ready to make their landmark decision on same-sex marriage, I feel the need to get political and urge all politicians to please make surrogacy legal nationwide."
According to Fox News Latino, Hilton spent Mother's Day with his mom and baby girl, describing the moment as "the best way" to celebrate the special date. He also thinks that he is a "better parent" in New York than in Los Angeles because "it's so much easier to get around" in the Big Apple, adding that his family is "more active" in the city," the news outlet added.
As for finding romance, Hilton said that he is "open to it" but his priority right now is Mario and Mia.
"I'm excited for the two of them, so they can have each other and my son can look after her," he said, as reported by Fox News Latino. "It's a real family now."
