With Intel's Broadwell chips expected to hit high-power PCs and laptops by mid-2015, talks aimed at the refresh of the 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro have become louder than ever. Previously, our closest guess was a time frame that runs from May to August, but it looks like rumors are narrowing down to a June appearance.

For those who may not know, the current, Haswell-supporting iMac and 15-inch MacBook Pro are built on Intel's 22-nanometer manufacturing process. Broadwell is seen as the apparent successor.

At this point, the revamped Retina MacBook Pro is expected to arrive at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference, Christian Today noted. The San Francisco event runs between June 8 and June 12.

Specifications of the Broadwell-based Core i5-5675C/5675R and Core i7-5775C/5775R suggest a slight improvement in CPU performance and the inclusion of Iris Pro 6200, an integrated graphics processor. Because of the chips, the new MacBook Pro could run 37% to 52% times faster, Christian Today cited.

On the other hand, Motoringcrunch has heard that the new MacBook Pro could be the first device to pack Intel's Skylake technology, which runs on 14-nanometer process.

According to the outlet, the chips are bound to be ready by late June. Such information hints that Apple could be introducing the refresh on the upcoming event, while a market release follows shortly.

Processor details aside, the the refreshed MacBook Pro will also support Pixelmator version 3.3.2, the Venture Capital Post wrote. This application, according to MacRumors, introduces a more powerful repair tool and support for the new Photos app and the Force Touch trackpad in the new MacBook and the updated 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro.

Apple has announced that the WWDC will bring more than 100 technical sessions, over 1,000 Apple engineers, hands-on labs and the Apple Design Awards. At the heart of the event is word about the future of iOS and OS X, the Cupertino giant's established operating systems.

The Ecumenical News took note of Philip Schiller's remarks, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide marketing, who said in a press release, "We've got incredible new technologies for iOS and OS X to share with developers at WWDC and around the world, and can't wait to see the next generation of apps they create."

It's worth noting that the WWDC offers scholarships to students and members of participating STEM organizations all around the world. As of press time, submissions are already closed, but for those curious about Apple's offer, head over here and here.
