Drake Previews New Song From Rumored Aaliyah Album, Signs Deal With Nike
The Drake takeover is far from over. For the past several years he’s dominated the rap and R&B industry. His most recent album, “Nothing Was the Same,” remained in the Top 10 for months following its September release and has sold more than 1 million copies, making it certified platinum. Most artists would choose to take a break after such a monster success, especially when sacrificing an entire summer to the project, but Drake stuck to the grind. Not only did he immediately take to the road, embarking on an ambitious tour, but he also just entered a high profile partnership with Michael Jordan’s Nike brand.
After Kanye West left Nike for Adidas last week, Drake jumped on the opportunity to be the new face of the brand. Drake informed his fans of the development by posting a series of sneaker designs to Instagram, which includes several pictures of the OVO Stingray, all of which you can view below. He also broke the news to those in attendance at his show in Portland on Tuesday, saying it was “one of the best days of [his] life.”
"Growing up, I'm sure we all idolized this guy, he goes by the name of Michael Jordan," Drake said. "So today, I came to Portland and officially became inducted into the Team Jordan family."
Michael Jordan himself took time to congratulate Drake and welcome him into the Nike family. "He's home. Welcome the newest member of #TeamJordan: @Drake" he wrote on Twitter yesterday morning.
As if that wasn’t enough, Drake has previewed a never-heard-before song through via Instagram Video. The song comes from Aaliyah’s rumored posthumous album produced by Drake and his producer, Noah ‘40’ Shebib. Drake shared one track, titled “Enough Said,” last year, and has just offered the latest snippet of another brand new track from the supposed album. Check out the 14-second clip here via MissInfo.
Drake’s domination is far from over. He never stops. He never sleeps. Whether you’re a fan or not, you have to respect him for his work ethic. He jumps on any opportunity at hand, constantly grinding and reaching for greater heights. Drakes going to be around for a long time. Don’t hate. Get used to it.
