‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2' Movie Tying to 'Divergent'? Prequel & Sequel Reportedly Considered! Trailer, Cast & Plot Spoilers Here
If you're a fan of post-apocalyptic stories, you'd know that there's a lot of similarities about Suzanne Collins' "The Hunger Games" and Veronica Roth's "Divergent" series.
With "The Hunger Games" wrapping up later this year, and marking the end of Katniss Everdeen's story, fans could probably count on something else than the ending that they have already anticipated.
Several news outlets quoted Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer, who said that the company is "actively looking at some development and thinking about prequel and sequel possibilities," during an earnings call in February.
According to Movie News Guide, since the announcement, fans are wondering if the company is considering to change the ending of "Mockingjay Part 2" to welcome a prequel and a sequel that will cross-over the beloved post-apocalyptic tale with Tris Prior's story from "Divergent."
In fact, Design & Trend presented possible scenarios that involve both stories. Though similar in a lot of ways, they are also vastly different. Both have established governments, meaning, there is a possibility that before it all came to their post-apocalyptic world, the two new civilizations could be intertwined.
Design & Trend said the setting could start off with the world being inflicted by a virus, and is artificially produced by an organization called the Freedom Liberation Party.

Then there's also the possibility of Prim being the main character in "The Hunger Games" / "Divergent" crossover, an alternate story, if you will. As noted by Movie Pilot, Katniss could possibly not have volunteered and have had Prim go on to fight at the Games. Then when she died (supposedly), Katniss and Peeta lead the revolution.
On the other side of the country, Prim was stuck in a coma for years, and when she woke up, it wasn't the same world and she was given a new beginning --- no Capitol, no Games, and no family. When she had to choose a new identity, she chose the name Jeanine Matthews, and that's when the "Divergent" storyline takes place.
With that, "The Hunger Games" and "Divergent" will not be on the same timeline, and it will turn out that Tris would be Katniss's niece. It's a good twist to bring both fandoms together, but do you think a crossover should happen?
A lot of fans seem to think so.
Check out this fan-made trailer, what do you think? Should there be a crossover between these two fandoms or should they be left alone?
