Oppo R7 US Price & Specs Review: Release Date, Features & Everything About The Samsung Galaxy A7 Rival [News & Rumors]
Following a series of leaks that built great hype about its arrival, the Oppo R7 is finally expected to launch on May 20, GSMArena reported. According to the outlet, Oppo has already "cleared a lot of myths" surrounding the R5's sequel, and we seem to get a clearer picture of how the new device will be like.
For one, the R7 will sport a depth of less than 5 mm, GSMArena said, living up to the R5's established design language. The smartphone will pack a 4.7-inch screen, similar to the iPhone 6, with a resolution set at 1080p. It is powered by a 2,000 mAh battery, which may be justified given its incredibly-thin architecture.
The Android handset is also confirmed to boast a premium-looking metal frame, as hinted in a recent teaser, TechnoBuffalo cited. The outlet, however, expects to see the device sport a thickness of 6.3 mm. In comparison, such measurement still makes it thinner than the iPhone 6, which comes at 6.9 mm.
Android Authority took note of Oppo's confirmation, which stated, "Besides further increasing the metallic ratio, the OPPO R7 sports a metal unibody undergoing 48 polishing processes to retain the original metallic flavor as well as a curvy and lustrous charm, thus delivering a peerless feel in the hand."
"As a leader of smartphone design and innovation, OPPO has been known for its classy product design and state-of-the-art manufacturing expertise. From the world's first motorized rotating camera phone, the OPPO N3, to the world's thinnest smartphone less than 5mm thick, the OPPO R5, and the OPPO R1C with its stunning sapphire glass back cover, OPPO has proven its strong all-round innovative strength," the company wrote.
Along with its full-metal unibody, the R7 will sport a 2.5D touch screen and "extremely narrow" bezels, Android Authority cited.
Processor-wise, the R7 is expected to run MediaTek's 64-bit MT6795 chipset, GSMArena noted. Its main camera, on the other hand, is set to capture at 20.7 MP.
As reported by Android Headlines, the R7's spec sheet lists the inclusion of 3 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, micro SD expansion, 8 MP front snapper, 4G LTE and Android 4.4.4 KitKat support.
In another article, GSMArena has learned that the R7 is aimed to rival the Samsung Galaxy A7. The outlet is convinced that the new device will be priced accordingly, "The metal-clad Samsung mid-ranger currently retails for €400-450, so that's about what the R7 will cost too."
Converting to U.S. price, we get a retail cost range of $449 to $505 as of press time.
