Rumors about a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 started going around when a pair of model numbers appeared on an International Mobile Station Equipment Identity (IMEI) database. Based on Samsung's naming principle, the two numbers refer to a Galaxy S6 variant labeled SM-G928S and to the Galaxy Note 5 named SM-N920F

Here's how the purported Note 5 compares to the S6. Tech Radar reported that the Note 5 has the code name "Project Noble" while the S6 variant is called "Project Variant."

Features & Specs

Phone Arena claimed based on slides from Samsung's Analyst Day event that the tech giant is considering 2160 × 3840 pixel resolution on the Note 5. Rumors said that the corporation is planning to include a 5.89-inch Ultra HD shift from Quad HD display for both a flat and "Edge" Note 5 model, which would render up to 700+ pixels per inch.

Digitimes also reported that Qualcomm is attempting to get its Snapdragon chips back to Samsung's flagship mobile devices. Samsung's Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge both use Samsung's Exynos 7 octa-core processor, which is a noteworthy change from past Note and S-series releases. The former gadgets used both Exynos chips and Qualcomm's Snapdragon chips.

Gotta Be Mobile said that a flexible display will be utilized by the tech giant for the Note 5. GalaxyNote5Edge.com, meanwhile, listed other specs of the device such as advanced Touch ID and retina scanner, a metal design, fast charging capabilities (5 to 10 minutes), 27MP ULL sensitivity rotator camera from front to rear, microSD slot, and front stereo speakers.

In comparison, the Galaxy S6 has a 64-bit architecture, LPDDR4, and advanced GPU, which pave way for the handset's energy efficiency and powerful performance. Its curvy design, which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4, is also made through glass molding and metal sculpture, Samsung's official site wrote.

The Galaxy S6 has 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution and a Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, GSM Arena noted. Its OS is Android's Lollipop 5.0.2, with an Exynos 7420 and a Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 and Quad-core 2.1 GHz Cortex-A57 CPU.

Release Date

Samsung just announced two Note models last fall: the Note 4 and the Note Edge, the first one being considered as one of the top smartphones currently out in the market, Gotta Be Mobile reported. Though these two gadgets gained enough recognition and attention, the tech giant is of course intent on reinventing their products.

BGR reported that the Note 5 could be launched at the IFA 2015 in September.

Price

It's too early to tell how much the Note 5 would cost, but GalaxyNote5Edge speculated that it would be priced no less than $1000. The Galaxy S6, on the other hand, costs $649 for the 32GB version, $749 for the 64GB, and $849 for its 128GB variant, GalaxyS6Samsung.com listed.
