Mike Tyson Calls Floyd Mayweather Jr. 'Delusional' After ‘The Money’ Compares Self to Muhammad Ali
Boxing legend Mike Tyson recently tagged undefeated American fighter Floyd Mayweather Jr. as "delusional" after "The Money" said that he is greater than boxing icon Muhammad Ali.
In an interview with the Undisputed Champion Network (UCN) where he was asked about his bet for the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight, Tyson slammed Mayweather's claim of being better than Ali, Fox Sports reported.
"He's very delusional," Tyson said of Mayweather. He added that if he was anywhere near Ali's Greatness he'd be able "to take his kids to school by himself."
In April, while promoting his mega fight against Manny Pacquiao, Mayweather declared that he is better than the boxing icon. ''He called himself The Greatest and I call myself TBE (The Best Ever). I'm pretty sure I'll get criticized for what I said, but I could care less. I could care less about the backlash," Mayweather said, as quoted by Fox Sports.
He sure earned some backlash, and Tyson didn't mince words when he said that Mayweather seemed to be afraid. "He's a little scared man. He's a very small, scared man."
A similar MMA Mania report said that it is hard to disagree with "Iron Mike" noting that Mayweather has always made it a point to go out in public heavily guarded by his security team. This was what Tyson was referring to with his "delusional" description as "The Money" reportedly brings his entire entourage when he drops his children at school.
Tyson expecting great fight on May 2
The former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world has also given his take on how the fight will play out on Saturday, in a video posted on his official YouTube channel.
Tyson described Pacman as a fighter "in perpetual motion."
"Pac-Man's all over the place," Tyson said. "[Floyd's] gonna lose the round if he lays back ... You gotta come out punching," Tyson added.
Mayweather will finally clash with Pacquiao in a match which took years to materialize. The May 2 fight at the MGM Grand Arena was also tagged as the richest fight in boxing history with tickets being sold out a minute after they were made available to the public.
Daily Mail said both fighters are looking at huge paydays after the fight as it is expected to earn at least $300 million--$180 million for Mayweather and $120 million for Pacquiao. The report added that tickets sales could fetch around $66.25 million, add that to the pay-per-view earnings from around the world. MGM Grand tickets were priced from $1,500 for regular seats to $10,000 for VIP seats.
With just a day left before the megafight, fans are getting excited to see who between the two will emerge as the winner on Saturday. Will it be the 8-division champion Pacquiao or the undefeated Mayweather?
