In a new Xbox Wire post, Microsoft's Major Nelson explains various strategies for snaggging the coveted Xbox One. First: you can sign up for the newsletters and e-mail programs that retailers offer to learn when the Xbox One is in stock. Following these retailers on Facebook and Twitter can also give you real-time updates for when the Xbox One is available to buy.
Another simple tip: find out when retailers receive shipments during the week. By learnign exactly when the retailer receives their stock, you can know exactly when to look for the Xbox One on the shelves. Many retailers also offer an online stock checker for locations that will tell shoppers if a product is in stock at that location. Shoppers can also call the store to confirm that the Xbox One is in stock.
A tip that may require a bit of a drive for some users involves checking console stock in less populous locations.
Finally, Major Nelson lists to Xbox One tracker websites that can be used to find the console amid the many locations that carry the device. XboxOneLocator and NowInStock are two websites recommended by Microsoft for finding the console at various locations.
The Xbox One has been a big hit with fans, and the console managed to sell over 1 million units in under 24 hours when it was launched in 13 countries on Nov. 22. The system is facing stiff competition from the PlayStation 4 from Sony, and the tips listed here by Microsoft can also be used to try to find that console as well. The console is being offered for $500, making it the most expensive console available on the market.
