Sony Xperia Z5 The Ultimate Flagship? The Latest Details on Release Date, Specs, Features & Price [Rumors]
The Sony Xperia Z4 was just announced recently, but rumors about the Xperia Z5 are already invading the Internet.
As what was pointed out by Tech Radar, the Xperia Z4 only showcased modest upgrades from its predecessor. Some believe that the purported Xperia Z5 could be a worthy successor of the Xperia Z3, given that rumors suggest that the former would have a new design and better specs and features.
Design & Features
An alleged leaked image found on Weibo by Mobilissimo.ro shows the back of a Sony branded device claimed as the Xperia Z5.
Though details of the handset are hard to make out, Tech Radar noted that the leaked photo seems to have a metallic edge just like the Xperia Z4, with a small camera lens on the top left corner. Optical image stabilization may not be included in the device. There was also a hint of the USB Type C connectivity port in the leaked photo.
Specifications
The rumored Xperia Z5 and the Xperia Z5 Ultra devices could be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset, while a Quad HD display for all regions is present as well, Ecumenical News reported.
The Sony Xperia Z5 Ultra will not be equipped by the flagship standard fingerprint scanning feature and instead utilize Qualcomm's Ultrasonic Sense ID, marking the gadget as the first smartphone in the Xperia series to have the technology, Ecumenical News added.
The Xperia Z5 will have a 2K screen, 4 GB of RAM, and a brand new camera sensor and software, the news outlet listed. Five generations of Sony's flagship devices have been using the Omni-Balance design, but the tech giant seems to be planning to shift into a new design language for the Xperia Z5, if the rumors are to be believed.
Reports from Xperiaz5 also claimed that the rumored Xperia Z5 will have a 5.5 inch screen with a 4k resolution, an impressive 30 MP back camera with G+ sensors, a 10 MP front shooter with face detection, 128 GB memory storage, and a 4500 mAh battery. According to the site, Sony is aiming to reduce the handset's charging time from 2 hours to 30 minutes.
Price
Xperiaz5 estimated that the Xperia Z5 will cost around $1100. This comes as too expensive, and despite Sony's rule of releasing two brand new models twice a year, Phone Arena pointed out that the tech giant fails to satisfy customer needs. The new gadgets the company releases are identical with each other with only a few upgrades included, but more costly than its predecessors.
Launch Date
Ecumenical News wrote that the Xperia Z5 could be released in Q4 2015, but could be delayed until January 2016 if the upcoming Snapdragon 820 chipset would not available in time for the Z5.
Note that these are all rumors for now and an official announcement from Sony is yet to come out.
