Bruce Jenner Dress & Interview Video Reveals His 'Soul' is Female! E! Reality Show Set [Watch]
In his first tell-all interview with ABC's Diane Sawyer, ex-Olympian and the former patriarch of the Kardashian clan Bruce Jenner finally admitted that he is transitioning into a woman.
During the Friday night broadcast of the interview, Jenner said that at the age of 65, he has the soul of a female.
"For all intents and purposes, I am a woman. People look at me differently, they see you as this 'macho' male, but my heart and soul and everything I do in life, it is part of me. That female side is part of me, that's who I am. I was not genetically born that way and as of now I have all the male parts and all that kind of stuff so, in a lot of ways, we're different, but we still identify as female. And that's very hard for Bruce Jenner to say. 'Cause why? Because I don't want to disappoint people," he told Sawyer during the interview.
Jenner added, "I hate that, I am a person, it's who I am," he said. "My brain is much more female than it is male. It's hard for people to understand but that's what my soul is."
According to USA Today, Jenner also differentiates being gay from being a transgender woman, and he clariffied that he is not gay and that he still prefers the male pronoun when referring to himself.
Asked if his coming out as a transgender woman is just a publicity stunt, Jenner rejected all the claims of those trying to doubt his transition.
"Would I go through a gender change and do all you need to do for that, for the show?" he snorts. "Have you any idea what I've been going through all my life, and I'm doing it for publicity for a show? Oh my God," Jenner said.
How Jenner kids, Kardashians found out
According to Jenner, his daughters, Kendall and Kylie, caught him checking himself out in a dress in front of a mirror, Hollywood Life noted.
"Any time someone walked in the room, the camera turned on because Kendall thought Kylie was stealing clothes from her. They came home and turned on their computer and [went] 'oh my god,'" Jenner said, adding that the same incident happened with Kim.
But he explained that these experiences made him feel much better because he was able to confess all his issues to his children.
Hollywood Life also reported that the Kardashian sisters, particularly Kim, are very supportive of his transition.
"Kim has been by far the most accepting. She said 'girl you gotta rock it ... baby you're representing the family and you've gotta look very good," Jenner added.
A similar New York Times report said that the public was not surprised with Jenner's revelations since many have witnessed how he slowly transformed into a woman.
It added that his admission "seemed genuine and quite touching" as he became teary-eyed at times during the interview with Sawyer.
After his coming out, Jenner will soon be working on a new E! series that focuses on his journey as a transgender.
"Bruce is incredibly courageous and an inspiration, and we are proud to be entrusted with this deeply personal and important story. This series will present an unfiltered look as Bruce boldly steps into uncharted territory and is true to himself for the first time," said E! executive vice president for Programming and Development Jeff Olde in a statement.
The eight-part series will premiere on July 26 at 9 p.m.
