Apple 21.5-Inch iMac & 15-Inch Retina MacBook Pro 2015 Release Date Looming? High-Power Broadwell Processor Expected Soon!
With new Broadwell processors estimated to arrive soon, Apple could be launching its upgraded array of Macs earlier than expected, Bidness Etc said.
According to the outlet, speculations have it that the Cupertino giant is rushing the release of updated versions of its iMac and Retina MacBook.
Intel has reportedly stated that Broadwell chips shall hit high-power PCs and laptops by "mid 2015." Considering such detail, our closest guess for new Macs would be May to August.
However, with Apple keeping mum on details, such insight is best taken with a pinch of salt.
Nevertheless, it is known that Apple will be holding its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 8 to 12 in San Francisco, International Business Times reported. As cited by the source, the event will house over 100 technical sessions, more than 1,000 Apple engineers, hands-on labs and the Apple Design Awards.
Citing recent reports, Bidness Etc noted that Apple has adjusted iMac shipping time to 3 to 5 days, an increase from the earlier expected 24-hour period. The Retina MacBook, on the other hand, is expected for delivery in a couple of weeks.
While it's speculated that the move comes as a result of stock fluctuations, the idea of Broadwell packing in new Macs is certainly not ignored.
The current, Haswell-supporting iMac and 15-inch MacBook Pro are built on Intel's 22-nanometer manufacturing process, The Motley Fool noted. Broadwell is the highly-anticipated successor to the current processor.
As told by the outlet, the company is yet to unveil Broadwell for "higher-performance" devices, such as all-in-one PCs and laptops.
The Motley Fool is convinced that the 21.5-inch iMac and 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro are going to get upgraded, with added features on top of the new processor. The latter, for instance, is touted to sport Force Touch in its trackpad, a similar feat packed by its 13-inch counterpart.
Intel's CEO Brian Krzanich has claimed that Broadwell products are doing better than the company predicted, WallStreet.org said. To date, specifications of the Broadwell-based Core i5-5675C/5675R and Core i7-5775C/5775R remain rumored, suggesting a slight improvement in CPU performance and the inclusion of Iris Pro 6200, an integrated graphics processor.
While prospects could be looking at new hardware releases in the upcoming WWDC, the iOS 9 is also expected to launch, IBT said. The software update is purported to bring major bug fixes, along with new features that may not be limited to mobile.
The OS X is also touted for an update, stepping to OS X 10.11. Here, IBT expects to see an improved and customizable UI, Siri integration and updated App Store, among others.
