Samsung Galaxy Note 5 to Pack Advanced Retina Scanner? Release Date, Specs & Price Details Here! [Rumors]
While Samsung has not confirmed any of its alleged details, the Galaxy Note 5, expected to arrive in September, continues to brew speculations in the rumor mills. For one, the device is thought to sport the first 4K display in a smartphone, but there are also talks which peg the inclusion of other notable features.
To start with, the Galaxy Note 5 is predicted to pack an advanced "Touch ID" button and retina scanner, galaxynote5edge.com noted.
Such detail must be taken with a healthy pinch of salt, but if the device promises to be a beast, these sorts of specs are most welcome for inclusion.
Citing recent reports, the Inquisitr took note of some of the device's alleged specifications, which include an advanced 4G LTE modem, 5.9-inch display and 4 GB of RAM.
According to the Tech Times, the device reportedly comes in two variants: a standard, 5.89-inch variant with flat display, including a 5.78-inch dual-edge model. Pixel densities are expected at 748 and 762, respectively.
The outlet also took note of other alleged specs such as the octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor, 21 MP main camera, 6 MP front snapper, 16 GB to 128 GB storage options, microSD support and 4,000 mAh battery.
Alternatively, Samsung's Exynos 7420 chip is touted to operate on the device. The same processor runs the company's latest flagships, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.
ValueWalk is convinced that Samsung's upcoming Note is an important launch, considering the success received by its predecessor. As told by the outlet, the Galaxy Note 4 has been "the most advanced" mobile device of its type, being an "extremely attractive" handset that departed from the Korean tech giant's development strategies.
The Galaxy Note 5 is seen to compete with yet another rumored phablet, the iPhone 7 Plus, the Inquisitr added.
Meanwhile, in terms of display, the device could also find a rival in a Sharp-supported smartphone. Previous reports indicated that the company's new screen is worth 3840 x 2160 pixels, fitting 5.5-inch phablets.
While Samsung continued to work on its AMOLED technology, Sharp spent its time with IGZO (indium gallium zinc oxide) screens. It is described to be "a revolutionary, transparent compound semiconductor that Sharp is the first to successfully mass-produce and bring to market."
IGZO is known for efficient energy utilization, saving more battery life for longer performance.
In terms of price, the Galaxy Note 5 is predicted to sell around $900, the Ecumenical News cited.
