iPod Touch 6th Generation Release Date in September? The Latest Leaks, Specs, Features & Price Rumors Here!

By Staff| Apr 16, 2015

Despite the absence of Apple's confirmation, the alleged sixth-generation of its iPod touch line continues to make rounds in the internet grapevine. Such could indicate that the device is still wanted, but with rumors springing almost everywhere, it may be difficult to track everything that's expected.

After all, a device isn't solely identified by its specs, and considering the iPod touch's nature, we're certainly looking at a different thing.

We've curated the latest reports geared towards Apple's compact media player. Check them out below.

Release Date

The sixth-generation iPod touch is expected to arrive in September 2015, the Latinos Post cited. Users would remember that its predecessor came in 2012, unveiled in the same month.

If speculations hold truth, it will be a span of three years before the Cupertino giant updates the product line.

Meanwhile, according to the Day Herald, industry experts said Apple is waiting for the launch of the new iPhone in fall, before finally releasing the long-awaited iPod touch 6G.

As previously reported, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that Apple will head straight to the iPhone 7, thereby killing expectations of an iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone 6c.

Specs & Features

In its recent article, Christian Today wrote that the new iPod touch is touted to arrive in two Retina Display models -- a 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch version. Users of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will find these measurements familiar, as they're also sported in the said handsets, respectively.

The outlet added that the device will come in generous colors as its predecessors, including pink, yellow, red, silver, blue and space grey options. It would be interesting if Apple adds more variety to these hues.

A golden iPod touch, anyone?

Interestingly, the Master Herald is convinced that time is an important factor for the improvement of the anticipated device.

The outlet wrote, "By holding onto the iPod Touch release until the fall months, Apple would allow for the device to have better specs and a better chance of surviving the next 24 months without any hardware upgrades."

Meanwhile, the 5.5-inch model is rumored to house a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels at 440 ppi, CrossMap said. Expected camera specs include an 8 MP rear shooter and a 1.5 MP front snapper.

Price

In terms of pricing, CrossMap wrote that the device is purported to sell "somewhere between $299 to $399," depending on available storage options. These are said to be 32 GB and 64 GB.
