Apple iOS 8.3 Jailbreak & Download: Updates, Preparation & Features You Need to Know
Following Apple's most recent iOS update, a tool that frees iDevices from the system's bonds may be the biggest thing wanted by jailbreakers. Yes, iOS 8.3 has been around for several days, bringing new features and fixes, but we're yet to see whether a jailbreak tool eventually comes at our disposal.
Considering the fact that Apple has patched security exploits in iOS 8.3, the release of an equivalent jailbreak may only be speculated at this point. According to Gotta Be Mobile, "it may not be any time soon," and MuscleNerd's warning may be enough to safeguard prospects from anything unfortunate.
As told by the jailbreak developer, iOS 8.3 comes with fixes in 39 security bugs, rivaling updates from iOS 7.x to iOS 8 last year.
Apple appears to be on its feet in pursuit of heightened software security. In a recent article, MacRumors wrote that the company has changed security settings in iOS 8.3, which broke current versions of transfer utilities for OS X and Windows.
As a result, developers had no other choice but release new versions of their respective softwares. Lucky are those who have jailbroken their iPhones, iPads and iPod touch's, as they will not be affected by such change, MacRumors said.
Apparently, the earlier-promised iOS 8.2 jailbreak is still not around, so we still have to wait for TaiG's word. Nevertheless, Yibada cited rumors, which claimed that the jailbreak giant is partnering with Pimskeks of the evad3rs, p0sixninja and "others" in developing the long-awaited tool.
In the meantime, International Business Times cited steps to downgrade from iOS 8.3 to iOS 8.2, should jailbreak prospects be up for future developments. According to the outlet, users in iOS 8.1.2 may use TaiG's unterthered jailbreak tool.
The downgrade is expected to support the following devices: iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPad 4, iPad 3, iPad 2, iPad Air 2, iPad Air, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 2, iPad mini with Retina Display and fifth-generation iPod touch.
To further prepare for an iOS 8.3 jailbreak, backing up of files (in iTunes) and jailbreak tweaks are also recommended by GBM in another article.
For those who haven't upgraded yet, iOS 8.3 comes with "secret" features as well, Forbes noted. These include free calls for Sprint (U.S.) and EE (U.K.) users over Wi-Fi, the "Phantom" fix and the Vulcan Salute emoji (the ever-logical Spock, yes).
