'Devious Maids' Spoilers & Cast: Season 3 Axes Three Series Regulars
Lifetime's "Devious Maids" will be losing three series regulars for Season 3.
According to a report from Deadline, the comedy-drama series will no longer feature Edy Ganem and Drew Van Acker in the upcoming season. The two, however, will still return for multiple episodes in their respective roles as Valentina Diaz and Remi Delatour. Mark Deklin, on the other hand, will not come back for Season 3. Deklin, who portrayed the character Nicholas Deering, joined "Devious Maids" on its second season.
Ganem's Valentina and Van Acker's Remi were among the guests at Rosie's (Dania Ramirez's) wedding which was "interrupted by a bloody shooting that ended Season 2 in a cliffhanger," Deadline wrote. Deklin's Nicholas was "a charming but mysterious millionaire," the news outlet noted.
As stated by Lifetime, Valentina and Remi will "struggle to connect in the aftermath of the shooting" when Season 3 kicks off, Deadline reported. Marc Cherry will no longer return as the upcoming season's showrunner as well and will be replaced by Ric Swartzlander and Brian Tanen.
To compensate for the departure of its three series regulars, "Devious Maids" added new cast members to its Season 3 roster. According to Screen Fad, the program will feature Cristian de la Fuente ("Royal Pains"), Naya Rivera ("Glee"), Nathan Owens ("Days of Our Lives"), Julie Claire ("Web Therapy"), and John O'Hurley ("Seinfeld").
Rivera will portray the character of Blanca, "a new maid in the neighborhood who has landed a job with the seemingly picture-perfect Beverly Hills family," a separate report from Deadline wrote. She will soon discover a terrible secret that could significantly impact her life. Owens, on the other hand, will portray Jesse, "a handsome military vet who returns stateside to settle back into civilian life," the news outlet added.
In addition to this, the third season will promote Gilles Marini (Sebastien) as a series mainstay and will bring back Season 1 regular Brianna Brown as Taylor Stappord, Screen Fad noted. Season 3 will premiere on Lifetime on Monday, June 1 at 9:00 p.m.
"Devious Maids" centers on "a close-knit group of maids," Marisol (Ana Ortiz), Rosie (Ramírez), Carmen (Roselyn Sánchez), Valentina (Ganem) and Zoila (Judy Reyes), joined together by "their jobs, life struggles, and the melodramatic universe that engulfs their employers," Deadline noted.
The series is produced by Cherry alongside actress Eva Longoria, who also made her directorial debut on the program on Season 2, The Hollywood Reporter wrote. "Devious Maids" was loosely based on the Mexican telenovela "Ellas son la Alegria del Hogar." Back in September 2014, the show was recognized as the number one basic cable program during its 10 PM Sunday slot among women.
