'Finding Dory' Movie Set in Disney-IMAX Deal! Release Date, Cast, Plot Spoilers & Everything We Know So Far
After 12 long years of waiting, the sequel of the hit animation "Finding Nemo" will finally be a reality. As you can recall, the story was about a clown fish, named Marlin, who lost his son Nemo by some humans fishing for pets. In his journey, he was able to meet different kinds of creatures in the ocean, both friendly and wild. The main story revolved in Marlin's adventure in finding, and later on, rescuing Nemo.
One of the friendly creatures Marlin was able to bump into is Dory. She is an amnesic blue tang fish who helped rescue Nemo. According to Movie News Guide, as a follow-up to the success of the 2003 Disney-Pixar film, the sequel moves forward to having Dory star in her very own story in "Finding Dory". This time around, the story will be focused on everyone's favorite: Dory, the forgetful fish.
It has been reported that "Finding Dory" will be available in IMAX set up. According to Deadline, Disney and IMAX had the slate deal renewed through 2017, among the stipulations are animated releases, thus including the upcoming "Finding Dory" together with other animations and live-action films.
According to the Coming Soon website, "Finding Dory" is set six months after the events of "Finding Nemo". After Dory went to see manta rays migrate back home with Nemo on a class trip, Dory experienced home sickness. This lead her to search for her origins, thus the beginning of her own story arc.
"Dory finds out that she was born there and was freed into the ocean at a young age. Dory is inspired to embark on a journey in search of her parents after she joins Nemo on a school trip to watch the migration of manta rays," said Pixar President Jim Morris in an interview with 2Day FM as cited on Movie News Guide.
More information was revealed as Morris added, "The movie will be mostly set at the California Marine Biology Institute, a huge complex of sea life rehabilitation and aquarium, where Dory was born and raised. We will get to meet new characters, like an octopus, sea lions, a beluga whale, among others."
Returning characters like Marlin, Nemo and the Tank Gang will still be featured in this sequel, which is set to be released on June 17, 2016.
The director and the voice talents will include Andrew Stanton, Ellen DeGeneres, Albert Brooks, Diane Keaton, Eugene Levy, Willem Dafoe, Dominic West, Ty Burrell and Idris Elba, respectively.
