Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Out This Month? The Latest Leaks, Specs, Features & Price Details Here! [Rumors]
The next generation of Surface Pro tablets are set to arrive this month, if recent reports hold truth.
According to DigiTimes, Microsoft is reportedly planning to launch the highly-anticipated Surface Pro 4 at its Build Developer Conference. The San Francisco event is scheduled to run on April 29 to May 1.
At the event's live stream page, the Redmond corporation wrote, "Build will cover all Microsoft Platforms -- expect rich new content and information on Windows, Azure, Office 365 and more. Developers will receive deep training, allowing them to take advantage of the incredible advances in our platforms, including Windows 10, and providing access to over 1.5 billion devices."
With Windows 10 promising to unite Microsoft's established platforms, the Surface Pro 4 is expected to sport it on-board. As told by DigiTimes' sources, the device will enter mass production in June, while "the second half of 2015" could mark its appearance in the market.
While prospects may rejoice at this point, Microsoft is yet to confirm the reality behind these information. BGR said DigiTimes and its sources have "a pretty mixed track record when it comes to this kind of thing."
Following the recent announcement of the Surface 3, word about the Surface Pro's next iteration has only become louder. Today, the Surface Pro 4 is thought to pack huge updates and high-end specs, with seeming emphasis on size, processor and memory.
For one, the Surface Pro 4 is touted to arrive in 12- and 14-inch variants. Either of two processors are eyed under its hood: Intel's Broadwell or Skylake chips.
TechRadar is convinced that Microsoft could offer a 1 TB storage option for the alleged device. It allegedly starts at 64 GB, growing to 128 GB, 256 GB and 500 GB. Its RAM is speculated at 16 GB.
If we are to mark a specific release month, International Business Times noted October as the "exact" time, citing information from another report.
Industry analyst Paul Mueller has spoken with the Inquisitr, saying, "The Surface Pro 3 is selling just as well as it did when it first came out. Even though people expected a June or July release for the Pro 4, it probably won't happen until Windows 10 is released. That way, Microsoft could capitalize on both Windows 10 and the new Surface Pro at the same time."
The Surface Pro 4 is thought to sell between $1,000 to $2,000, Realty Today predicted.
In the meantime, as we wait for Microsoft's word, attention may be shifted to the existing Surface 3. Unveiled at the end of March, the device is a testament to the company's efforts of bringing a more affordable "laplet" to more customers.
Just like the Surface Pro 3, the Surface 3 is endorsed as a tablet that works as a laptop, packing the ability to run all Windows apps, among other features. In addition to the standard tablet, a mobile-broadband version (4G LTE) is also available.
Expected to launch in 26 markets by May 7, the Surface 3 is accepting pre-orders here. Pricing starts at $499.
