Samsung Galaxy Note 5 to Sport Unbeatable Memory Chip? Release Date, Specs, Features & Price Roundup [Rumors]
It may be attributed to strategic planning or sheer luck, but Samsung's decision to forge in the direction of curved displays is something the industry sees as a marking capital. Following the arrival of the "pop" that is Galaxy Note Edge, word about the company's next products drew similar design inspiration, and rumors had been right when the Galaxy S6 Edge came into existence.
That's why it isn't surprising to hear that the next iteration in the Note series, the alleged Galaxy Note 5, is expected to arrive with a curved screen. If this holds truth, the device may need to establish its own identity -- design-wise -- with some deviation, perhaps, from its predecessors.
The Galaxy Note Edge comes with a flexed display on one side, while the Galaxy S6 Edge forms curves on its left and right. If the Galaxy Note 5 adopts the same design language, it's interesting to think how creative Samsung can become.
Three-side curves, anyone?
Yet we can also see familiar architecture, as Samsung may invest efforts into something else (or greater). Apparently, the Galaxy Note 5 is believed to be the world's first 4K smartphone, Know Your Mobile reported.
Citing "unnamed insiders," Trusted Reviews wrote, "Samsung will start mass production of its first phone-bound 4K displays next August. It has been suggested that production will be quickly ramped up in order to get the Galaxy Note 5 in to retailers by October."
That being said, the Galaxy Note 5 may be launched somewhere between August and October. September is our closest candidate, and yes, the Berlin-based IFA event kicks off on the 4th day of the month.
As told by Gotta Be Mobile, the last four Galaxy Note models were all announced "in and around the start of IFA."
Another exciting spec of the rumored Galaxy Note 5 is its processor. In the last few months, most upcoming Android flagships were touted to pack Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 chip. But as the Galaxy S6 models ditched such claim, things may also be different for the Galaxy Note 5.
For those who may not know, Samsung has opted to use its in-house Exynos 7420 SoC processor for the new Galaxy S6 models. According to Android Authority, the chip made use of a 14nm FinFET manufacturing process, translating to lower power consumption and boost processing speeds.
But something else is touted for the Galaxy Note 5 -- a new memory chip that's expected to make a big difference in terms of design and performance.
This processor is called the high-density EPOP memory, Know Your Mobile said. Reportedly, the chip combines 3 GB LPDDR3 DRAM, 32 GB eMMC (embedded multi-media card) and a controller. Ultimately, it's expected to allow "speedier multitasking and slimmer handset designs."
Meanwhile, Android Origin said in a recent report that Qualcomm is "trying to win Samsung's trust" for its future phablets, so we'll have to see what turns out. In case you haven't heard, several reports claimed that Snapdragon 810 has been overheating -- quite a major issue.
Aside from the things mentioned, the Galaxy Note 5 is thought to come with a 5.9-inch screen, 4 GB of RAM, 21 MP main camera and 4,000 mAh battery. It is predicted to sell around $900.
