'Game of Thrones' Season 5 Episode 1 Premiere, Cast & Plot Spoilers: 5 Major Twists to Watch For
Less than a week to go, and the fifth season of HBO's hit series will air again, with its thousands of fans looking forward (and dreading) the deaths that will likely happen this season. Will your favorite character survive the season?
Claim to the Throne
In the game of thrones, you win or you die, but with Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) dead and Stannis (Stephen Dillane), claiming the North, there are only few people with a legitimate claim for the throne, including Tommen Baratheon (Dean-Charles Chapman) and Daenerys Targaryem (Emilia Clarke). However, as noted by International Business Times, there are others who have their own claim to the throne even though they haven't set their sight on it yet, including Jon Snow (Kit Harrington), and Roose Bolton (Michael McElhatton).
The Return of Tywin Lannister
While a lot of characters die in the series, there are also possibilities of flashbacks, and according to Charles Dance, who plays Tywin Lannister, he will make appearances in the next season, despite his rather undignified end. Lance won't be the first dead character to make a return, though -- remember Jason Momoa's Khal Drogo, who made an appearance in season 2?). Speaking with MTV, Dance teased, "I'm not completely missing out on the next series. You haven't seen the last of Tywin Lannister."
The Imp Meets the Mother of Dragons
According to Latin Times, Tyrion, who fled King's Landing after Jamie (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) helped him escape, will find his way to Meereen and meet the Mother of Dragons and her new husband. Although his journey in the books took him much longer, it seems that HBO is not wasting time in showing the once-powerful Lannister's humiliation.
Jamie Meets Doran Martell
It is a departure from the original book series, but in a string of leaked photos, Jamie will go to Dorne to meet Doran Martell, the brother of Oberyn Martell, the prince of Dorne who was killed by the Mountain in the last season. Photos from the set can be seen here.
A Stark Will Return to Winterfell
Accoriding to Polygon, one of the Stark children will go back to Winterfell, but with Ramsay Bolton hoising their family's banner as he tries to be the respectable Bolton that he is now in name, it's going to be another struggle for power between the house of flayed men and of direwolves. Winter is indeed coming, but who do you suppose will return to his home in the North?
What do you think about these spoilers? Are you psyched to watch the series on HBO soon?
